Right out of the gate, when I first heard this track over 20 yrs ago...I instantly knew it was one of a kind and something very, very special. Each time I listened to "If I Survive" by British electronic music group Hybrid, featuring Julee Cruise...God rest her soul, I picked up on new sounds I hadn't heard before. This gem just happens to be the second single from Hybrid's debut "Wide Angle" studio album and was released by Distinct'ive Records on the 30th of August 1999.
And every time I've incorporated it into a 2 hour (live) set, it simply electrified the crowd & stimulated the room...coining it as an immediate (head banger). This joint will always go down as one of my Hybrid favs, simply b/c Julee adds that (angry vocal flair) that rides the typical Hybrid stellar Russian Federal Orchestral driven production to the hilt.
