Wow. This is my (New?) favourite type of music?? I have extremely eclectic taste in music ranging from electronic/trance to old school rock.. but this is certainly at the top of what I LOVE. Thank you so much!

To hear more of Anna Murphy, I recommend checking out her new band, Cellar Darling. The new Eluveitie lineup is really good too, though their sound is much heavier now.

I'm so happy you did some more Eluveitie! I feel the same way as you do--the first time I heard it, it was like finding something that I'd always been looking for in music. This song features their former singer, Anna Murphy, who is excellent. Another great one with her is "Call of the Mountains", which you probably have on your list. It's a great video, too. After she (and the drummer, Merlin, and the rhythm guitar player, Ivo) left the band they founded their own band, Cellar Darling, which is also great in a different way. "Avalanche" is an excellent introduction to their music (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIiwmnWgZd53gMk). My favorite of theirs is "Insomnia." I think it's cool to see live videos of them, to see all of the many members interacting. I also love the hurdy gurdy--it brings such a unique feel to their songs. Thanks again! They belong to the subgenre called folk metal. Next to Power Metal, Folk Metal is definitely right at the top for me in my favorite genres. Btw, just for some lyrical context for the song (and band as a whole), their lyrics generally revolve around Gaulish culture, history and mythology. Epona is the Gaulish Fertility goddess who was also known as a protector of Horses. After the Gallic Wars, when Rome swept in and conquered Gaulish land and essentially stamped out their culture and the worship of their gods, Epona was the only of their deities that actually ended up still actively worshipped and even went on to be integrated into Roman culture/worship. Also, the word Nemeton refers to a place of worship in their culture, like a sacred grove, temple, or altar.

So, as for more songs from them I would highly recommend... if you want to prioritize songs with the female vocalist in the lead, I highly recommend "Call Of The Mountains", "Epona" (different song from their second acoustic album), "Lvgvs", "Omnos" or "Ambiramus". For their more traditional melodic death metal leaning songs, "Thousandfold", "Inis Mona", "Quoth The Raven", "King", "Deathwalker" and a personal fave of mine "Divico" (which does not have a music video). For more folk metal bands, some of my favorites are Feuerschwanz (more recent songs), Arkona (I recommend "Yarilo" or the full version of "Goi Rode Goi!" as a first impression), Korpiklaani, Turisas, Ensiferum, Heidevolk and many many more!

Love this band so much, my favourite band together with Epica!!! Eluveitie is for me the best folk metal band in the world. This song is one of my so many favourites, and with the old line up. Honestly, I prefer the "new" Eluveitie because they are more metal without losing the true folk sound, but I love the "old" Eluveitie too very much. Eluveitie is one of those bands you bring out when friends say they've 'heard everything' and they are bored with music. There are more songs like this, but I do not have their titles memorized. I think I mentioned in your Rebirth reaction that I had a chance to briefly play alongside a couple of the mountains of Irish trad-music (Kevin Burke and Michael O'Domhnaill of the Bothy Band in an informal, open-jam environment....very intimidating. I got to play the hard-edged/syncopated/counter-point part usually reserved for the Irish Bouzouki, on my re-tuned guitar. Very Very intimidating. These folks make it look so easy. The fiddlers may get all the glory but those on the low whistles and Uileann pipes really drive the sing, along with the bodhran player. (sorry for any misspellings... my cat Velocity is climbing up my shirt, like a mountaineer using ice-axes) Do yourself a favor and seek out any Irish-traditional bands or pickup-jams. It is such a fun time. Shor of that, find some VERY old YT videos of The Bothy Band from the 70's. The clothes and hairstyles in the audience are fun (as always) and the music is great.... tho there is no Metal involved.

I find that when most people say they've "heard everything" or "listen to everything", they've only really listened all they're willing to hear lol. At least it seems that way when I show them music far outside their "eclectic" comfort zone. I agree with the Irish music. I'd also recommend Zoë Conway and John McIntyre. They play the fiddle and guitar, respectively, and sing many songs in the native Irish Gaeilge (quite beautifully).

The genre is actually a whole genre. Its not so popular in the West. Its called Folk Metal. Eluveitie is most peoples gateway drug into the genre. The "flute" is an alto tin whistle. And historical context Eluveitie focuses on the historical era of the Gauls and the Gaulish War with Rome (allot of the lyrics in Eluveitie are Gaulish which is an extinct celtic dialect gleamed off headstones). For Rose of Epona its about the Celtic belief of the diety Epo or Epona which is the Mother of Fertility and protector of Equines and Cavalryman. The song is about the end of Celtic influence and their goddess in that regard, a powerful song for me being a neo-Eponite. Fun fact the ONLY "pagan" deity adopted by the Romans was Epona. Which makes the song more bitter to us Epons.

Fun reaction. It's called celtic folk metal with death influences. Eluveitie is the best export of switzerland. If you love this, check other bands with this style. For example i recomment 'feuerschwanz', 'saltatio mortis', 'subway to sally' or 'in extremo'. Love to see your reactions to this groups. Anna Maria Murphy delievers such strong emotional vocals,its ridiculous! She was perfect for this type of this song!😍Want to hear her more uplifting with Eluveitie? Check out "The Call Of The Mountains". Theyr genre is Folk Metal as they bring in folk music instruments into Metal music wich is really creative,unique and amazing sounding! Every member plays several instruments each,wich also is beyond impressive. There has been a total of 28 members in this band since 2002 (Mindblowing knowing that they come from tiny Switzerland,whereas 9 of them are the current lineup,Fabienne Erni is the lady that replaced Anna Maria) I was so gutted when Anna Maria left,absolutely love her! They have so far collabed with 14 guest artists live and on record. Seriously underrated band? I would say so yes!🥰

Eluveitie is great. They're a folk metal band. The whole genre is great but varies in style. If you want another song from them, I recommend something newer with their new lineup. Check out their song "Rebirth".

Saw them in concert a few years back. Epica canceled half-way threw the tour in the US. They added like an extra half hour to 45 minutes of acoustic music after their normal hour and half set. Call of the mountains, Inis Mona, king, thousandfold, helvetios are probably my favorites.

One of my favorite bands for sure, my favorite album of them is Evocation II: Pantheon wich is more influenced by a full folk and celtic sound, even lyrics are in gaulish. "Epona", "Lvgvs" and "Catvrix" are some of the official music videos released for this album. They have some very interesting live here in youtube too I recommeded the one in Rockpalast 2019 for the full experience, but a personal bias there "Artio" :) Anna Murphy, Eluveitie vocals in the video of your reaction, departed of the band in 2016 and made their own project called Cellar Darling along with other ex-Eluveitie members, CD is a must band you need to check someday.
