You missed details, Liv tells Kasper in one of the episodes that the Elves lived on the island before any humans did and that this place is sacred and needs to be protected from people who'd want exploit the land for profit.

Karen absolutely had the right idea. 15 min until the end of the last episode and the little girl still did not learn. Multiple people have died b/c of her and she still was trying to kidnap that baby elf. Piss poor parenting and shame on whoever put that cabin up on Airbnb

On the other hand regular people don't expect their very presence on a remote island, or the saving of a run over creature, can lead to so much death and destruction. I think they acted rather normally, and that the death and destruction was mostly due to the natives being so secretive.

When you enter another tribe’s land and they tell you the rules, you obey the rules! Not cause a genocide by insisting on getting your own ways (sound familiar?)! By the end I was really hoping the insufferable Josephine and/or her family would be sacrificed to appease the elves and the townsfolk live on happily ever after. They weren’t even concerned that the poor local people had lost their lives because of her.

The show actually was a depiction of "Karen" upgrading to "Josephine". But gonna say this miscommunication thing has been used way too much in most thriller script. Why cant the characters have an actual discussion over the matter at hand instead of bickering throughout the runtime

Tell people to follow strange rules but not explain the real reason why they needed the elf instead of breainginto their cabin and bullshit them and lie making the daily tink they were strange and weird which any logical person would think.. if they were honest then the fail andlitle girl and townspeople never woulda gone through any of it. I really want more TV series to take the Brothers Grimm approach to things. At the end that girl never learned anything of value and a lot of people died because of her not listening to her parents. I feel like the creators where trying to make the grandmother as the bad guy if the show but it never happened like 85% if the viewers were going to side with her. They need to take more of the Brothers Grimm approach of teaching by consequences not the Disney way of happily ever after and this show was perfect for that but they failed miserable, at least it was short that's the only redeeming factor I see of it.

Well if they are leaving it open for a possible second season, killing the little girl would have been a bad move. She’s technically the main character. But I do think they could have improved by killing one of the parents. Maybe the mom she never listens to? That definitely would have been consequences for her.

I knew Karen was going to die because she did what was fair sacrifice Josephine what killed her was shooting at that baby elf. That right there sealed her fate with that baby and its parents. Reminds me of 50 states of frights stories Scared Stiff and Grey cloud island.

But some folks are getting on my nerves saying Josephine is just a child. Clearly this girl says multiple times that she's an adult and she's grown and wants to be treated like it. You cannot pick and choose when you want to be young and naive and then a grown smug know it all. Her character is a TERRIBLE PERSON and most likely will grow up to be an unfeeling sociopath who has destructive tendencies and cares about no one but herself. And yes I'm going IN and maybe doing a bit much but she irked my nerves and had me about to get a belt!

Also, I've seen many "animal lovers" who are just that.... they love animals only and will gladly take a knife to the human race. NOT ALL animal lovers btw but there are a certain few and these ppl are definitely dangerous to others because they care not for the life of others and they definitely have the makings of a sociopath. In the end, I stand by what I said. If you feel differently you're free to do so, but no... that girls character was a terrible person. Period.

I wanted to like this more than i did. It sadly was pretty predictable, and that girl, i just wanted to see eaten by the end. Is that bad? Karen was right when she told the girl it was her fault, and even at the end she kept wanting to take the infant elf, ugh. Karen did look like Frances McDormand, i couldn't stop thinking that, lol.

I don't think that elf wanted one with the others. He was different. Very curious like Josephine which is why he went with her. Helookedout for her bc she looked out for him when he was hurt. If not for her kiko would have died outside of that fence. It's no her fault she got out and I don't think it was her fault I think the village people could have avoided it all by being honest and not bullshittin the family. Bci know if were anyone in that family iwould have steered clear of those people and wanted nothing to do with them .everyone's blaming a child but no one blames the adults who hid a weapon that could destroy a population. I felt like Kiko loved her like a momma or a friend..whatever It was that motivated him to look out for her in the woods and want to help her and leave with her in the end. She and Kiko had that bond. No one else understood it but I would like to think she was just upset about leaving. "friend" behind wit those scary adults. We never saw kikowith it's mom or dad.. so he was like an orphan out there for all we know. But it made no sense to me that they were so mad the girl took him but not one elf adult claimed him. He seemed lonely. I get that she hurt people but I also think the townspeople should have been more forthcoming and this could have been avoided. They decided to lie and hide things from people who had no idea about the dangers inside the fence and got angry when the parents insisted on keys to save their daughter. Like come-on.. I just don't understand the hate she IS just a kid and no one could have assumed the situation there sohad the native people been transparent this would have all been avoided. I'm sure the girl would have given up on the baby If she knew she had pissed of it's whole population and everyone was gonna get slaughtered bcof it. But either way it needed way more development. Now I wish I didn't watch itlol

Absolutely wrong. The girl is the reason the elf was run over by the dad when she attacked the brother in the car, unprovoked. Throughout the show she deliberately ignores everything her terrible, negligent parents say, which lead her to sneaking back to the gates at the woods and taking the elf they hit back to a barn behind the house. When it kills a cat she bends over backwards to justify why the only living thing in the barn didn’t devour the cat. When the village man takes the creature back outside the gate she follows him out and watches him as he locks the gate behind her. She tries to kidnap the creature from its home in the woods and sees what the adult version of the elves look like, proceeding to murder one. Then when she finds the baby again she’s still talking about wanting to “free him” by taking him home with her off the island as her pet. Her idiot parents destroy the generator powering the electric fence and allow the elves to break in and murder the village people. When Karen finds out that the girl is the reason all of this is happening (after seeing the adult elves only attack her) she sees that this will end when she turns her over to them. The village man and Karen’s own granddaughter suddenly turn on Karen and help the brother free the sister when Karen brings her to a clearing for the Elves to find her, despite the fact that she got so many people killed and she’s the one they want. They then immediately leave Karen to die when the Elves begin to attack her and make a break for the gate after the power is brought back on, orphaning Karen’s granddaughter for a second time. Also, the village man was left to die by the terrible dad. Then then are allowed to just go back home without answering for their multiple crimes on the island and take Karen’s granddaughter with them. None of them learned anything. Horrible show. The genre it claims doesn’t add to its quality and does not excuse bad writing.

Man I want my time back watching this . Stupid thing. My god I supported the town people . Seriously it not even a cult because the elf we seen are very creative and smart enough to know there surrounding even in a unknown area. Like I was rooting for Karen because in her eyes and the audience the family are the bad guys and cause the death of all the town people ( so we see) . Also this hold thing could've been avoided if the dude told the mom and dad. Yea let me open the fence and lock them out so elves can eat them and cover it up all they need to deal with is the lonely boy and they could've man a better story of the little girl becoming the elves Queen Like seriously this show is not worth it

The Elves hunting patterns are strange, how did the mom get past them to get her, but chased her on the way back not when she entered. I actually liked the show, and this is my take. Talk about the quick for shadowing when she was helping the dog in the beginning.

Eh, I enjoyed it for the fact that they made the elves startlingly believable. Regardless of what they claim the origin of the elves is, they did so much to flesh out species behaviors and adaptations without any lip-flapping at all from humans. Vaguely primate-shaped Ambush predators with tree-bark-like skin and vocalizations resembling trees creaking in high wind. the best scenes of the adult elves were where they were barely seen at all because it gave us more of that mental image of passing through the woods at dusk and being stalked by things you’re not even sure are there even as the creaking of the trees gets a tad too intense to be just the wind.

I agree the show was far from perfect, but I enjoyed it enough that I just re-watched it in preparation for the second season. And I was actually pretty disappointed to find out that there actually doesn't appear to be a second season this year, and it looks like there probably never will be!

Why Kee-ko seemed more friendly and hardly also followed the instinct to attack humans like the other adult elves when he killed a cat, at least seemed friendly and loyal for the protagonist Josefine who found and took care of Kee-ko who probably even tried to help Josefine when she was about to become victim to the adult elves and when he attacked Karen who tried to sacrifice Josefine to the adults elves?

I don’t think it’s her fault actually. I thought this too, but who left the baby outside of the reserve, wrapped in the blanket? My suspect is Kasper’s love interest. My theory is that the peace treaty already broke when the baby was injured and placed outside of the reserve. The mama was there because she wanted her baby back. She knew the little girl didn’t kidnap the baby. Now the reason why I suspected Kasper’s love interest is because 1. She did actually want to leave the Island and two, she was calm the whole time. The only time when she showed emotions is when she saw some villagers dead and her grandma getting eaten alive, but I believe all this was an act to convince everyone around her that she too was not part of these horrible events. Grandma mentioned that it was the little girls fault, making us believe that it was, when in reality it was her granddaughter the whole time. At the end of the show the baby looked angry. I think the baby is seeking revenge against the teenage girl.

Ok think story you got the details wrong! The story about the chemical spill was fake told just to kill the family's curiosity. The Woodland elves were always there before people. The reason people were killed was because they opened a saw mill and cut down trees therefore destroying the elves home and angering them. So, the towns people made a deal to provide sacrifices and built the electrified fence to keep the elves in and people out therefore both can live in peace. That peace was broken when that spoiled brat decided to take that baby elve home away from it's family. Throughout this whole movie this kid was a spoiled selfish entitled Karen in training. Unlike everyone else I wanted that kid to die or at least her mom and dad who acted more like the kids bestfriend than a responsible adult. All of this could have been avoided if they disciplined their children as parents are supposed to but instead there was constant disrespect from their daughter even when she got innocent people murdered. Even when she saw everything bad happening she still wanted to take that baby elve from its home. This show was a insult to everyone's intellect especially when Casper call the baby elf a rat. I'm sure we all know what a rat looks like!😆

Tbh, the plot would have been good if no one was stupid. Like josephine was dumb enough to keep a random creature you find and think it's normal. And there weren't many romantic scenes between Liv and Kasper(It would have been better). The elf was so cute though. And in the third episode, I just wanted jose to die, since she risked the lives of a whole Village, and didn't care for consecuences. Karen shouldnt have died, josephine should have. This is my opinion, for the people who actually liked the whole thing. The only thing that bothered me was basically the whole family, and the islanders were much smarter.

Everyone was annoying except Karen. *SPOILERS I don’t understand why Moller and Liv sacrificed Karen for some idiotic family. Innocent ppl died because of the whole family yet Moller and Liv saved Jose. The parents were heck a annoying too. They didn’t even discipline their kids. It’s almost like the writers wanted Karen to be the villain and the family as innocent victims. The family constantly disrespected the culture and practices even when Karen was direct and compassionate towards them.

The last episode was so fucking bad. Warning spoilers. The actress for the daughter is so bad, she only has like 3 faces. Her character doesn't develop at all, as she wants to take the baby elf with her after seeing what they are capable of. Then the father from the island just "gives" away his daughter to strangers with any money? So dissapointed.

Was the audience hating the series intentional? I sometimes wonder if some writers are intentionally writing terribly annoying characters for us to hate the film or they just suck at a screenplays screen in general. There's no way the actors alone are to blame for this piece of garbage.
