The two series complet each other in representing the book. The old series represent John part of the story way closer to the book and in a better way in my point of view, The fish out of the water story. While the new version represent way better the Japanese character and the politic. The culture is quite well represented in each series. For me, what makes the the new one lose a lot of points while it makes the old one reach a 10 is Rodrigues. As the actor steal the show everytime he's on screen (and playing the book character perfectly) while in this new version, he's forgettable. As my favorite character in the book, It makes the old show a better watch for me. But honestly, I've watch the old show 6 or 7 time, read the book 5 time and I'm watching the new one for the second time but i don't think I'll watch it as often as the first.

The old series is close to the book when it comes to every scene with Blackthorne, New version has better "Japanese character only scene, and japan politic scene". I prefer the old show, way closer to the book.

This is exactly the same as the film face off with nick cage and travollta . You will find that he's cut his face off and stuck it on his body because he wanted the girl .

Not a fan of either of them. This was is even more forced. The Scare became a demon because he was separated from he sister? Come on. This kind of stuff gives horror a bad rep.

I find myself annoyed 70% through episode 2 and finding it hard to believe that a professor of Jason's caliber despite all the proof in front of him still hasn't figured out that he is in an alternate reality. I'm so annoyed that I paused the episode to come online to find a review to share this opinion. HIs stupidity is breaking my immersion.

Arya pulling off Jaime's look to take out Cersei, leaving her to believe Jaime was the one who got her? Now that would be satisfying.

jason now know what is possibly happening, but jaye said it's "for both of us", daniella's death is necessary its not even her show ; this is a sci-fi genre so if daniella wants to get personal and drawing arts, go to Option and select Home and Cooking show.

Pretty obvious easter eggs, that I haven't seen mentioned any where, are the nods to "It's A Wonderful Life". Besides the theme similarities, Bad Jason goes down the stairs at home, and fiddles with the loose bannister knob... Family Guy Jason goes to his usual bar, and his buddy bartender has no idea who he his / kicks him out. Though it doesn't look like things will resolve as smoothly for this George Bailey :(

I watched the Netflix version and liked it, but it made me curious to see the Matt Damon version. Wow! Loved it! The Netflix version lacked the glamous, gorgeous, summer in Italy fantasy life that Tom so much wanted to be a part of. Not sure why... maybe it was the b&w, but the Netflix version's vibe was just too somber for me. Fascinating story, but I've got to go with 1999 version! Plus , the cast was phenomenal!

This could have Been a way deeper movie, but was very shallow. Didn't care for the Michael character after a point. he should have sacrificed himself. He clearly didn't belong there.

6:40 - "...a world very much similar to 1950s America"; just "America" was enough, people are still sent to prison for being communists. Where is the pro-Palestine protest to not have been round up by the police? Or the anti-fascist organization not declared terrorist? This is just America with Albania's bunkers and a 50s aesthetic.

Jaye has probably been to a bunch of different alternate realities looking for the one our Jason is in. I imagine that explains the cell phones. He kidnaps Jason in whatever reality he's in and takes his cell to see if his wife/kid are in the contacts.

Shogun is one of my favorite novels. I’ve read it at least 3 times. The love story is the emotional core of the book. While I enjoyed the new miniseries, I thought it gutted that core, turning the romance into what felt more like a high school crush. I kind of wish they had made a 3-season series, with ~7 episodes per season, in order to expand upon the world while also retaining the Blackthorne-Mariko romance. Just my two cents.

when you need blogs posts & videos to explain what the HELL was going on it's a director gone wild. was it racial? yes. did it make a point? yes. did they do a good job of showing how awful it was for blacks in white neighborhoods? yes! BUT the series goes off the deep end with supernatural never explained bizzaro crypt keepers who haunt & posses them. this would've been soooooo much better as what it was instead of going supernatural city only to further confuse & frustrate the viewer. i SCANNED & SCANNED &...in hopes of just GETTING TO THE POINT. Save yourself the trouble. Just watch this video & be thankful you didn't get sucked into a "black" hole.

There’s nothing complete about this story, they have very important stuff to attend to the same way they did the season they may have found each other by the end, but they still have shit to fix. I will say at the very least one more season of a episodes will probably do it, but no more than that.

The 1980's version is vastly superior to the 2024 version... the new version is just a popcorn version of the real story with lots of pretty visual effects and lots of women empowerment thrown in... something totally impossible in a middle age feudal Japan. Also inferiors contradicting and disobeying their superiors orders is rampant in the 2024 version... an offense punishable by death at the time.

Ever since the very beginning of the show, I always thought the perfect time to stop would be 2012. The monarchy was undergoing such a popularity resurgence with the marriage of Will and Kate in 2011 and then the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics all in 2012. It was like the youthful royals were reinvigorating it in the public eye for decades to come while it was still overseen by the approving Queen. They could've ended it in December with Kate's first pregnancy announcement as a symbol of the surefire security of the monarchy's future, and they could've in introduced the first conversations about the following years change in succession law to make it eldest rather than eldest born male. I think in reality that was just changing with the times so that if George were a girl she wouldn't be displaced, but they could've narratively fictionally framed the change in law to be a tribute to Elizabeth and her longevity as a steadfast female head of state. in the real world, Charles and camilla's wedding was deliberately low key and the date changed multiple times, it was a bit of a national whimper. in 2012, there was so much hope and optimism for a renewed monarchy it would've been such a celebratory jubilant time to finish with a big sigh of relief from an established and successful queen at last. obviously the subsequent decade didn't bear that out with all the scandals since, in the real world these things never last. it ebbs and flows, and they could've hinted at Harry's diffidence and the queen mildly suspicious of his mother's spirit in him, having learned from her mistakes with Charles not to ignore these things and to face them as Margaret advised her to. But that could have been a whisper on the horizon at a far stronger finale point than 2005 I've always thought.
