I just found your channel, and I am absolutely baffled that the Algorithm didn’t recommend it to me until now. This is some quality stuff, please do keep this coming because this channel deserves far more exposure and popularity than it currently has.

Love your work. Each video brings new love and a better understanding of the creatures and the lore. Would really enjoy a video on one of my favorite creature types also one that is also hated when playing against them.....the slivers.

I love elves. After dragons, they are my favourite magic beings. They look so human, and yet they are often so different from us.

Dragons are one of my favorites as well. I loved his videos covering Nicol Bolas, as well as his video on elder dragons in general 🤘 Always loved the mythology of them.

Gameplay wise it's devils for me. Lore wise I can't decide; I love certain races on certain planes; like how horrific the elves on Lorwyn are or the Dragons on Tarkir
@eliasfett81652 жыл бұрын
As expected very good video, very well covered. All elves were inspiring, but the elves of Alara were a surprise for me. I didn't know they were tied to Progenitus, very cool. Some ideas for future videos could be Garruk, Tezzeret, or Slivers as another fellow lore lover suggested. I know a decent amount of Garruk and Tezzeret, but their stories jump around so much I feel there's a lot of holes in my information. I enjoy all the content sir Erek, keep up the good work, can't wait for more. Go forth and explore the lore fellow lore lovers 😁🤘

Haha if we're brainstorming here: I would love a deep dive on Horrors, since they show up everywhere, without really being a "tribe", they're more like an ugly mirror of every plane they show up on
@eliasfett81652 жыл бұрын
@@SickOfItAll1988 that would be a good one. They do show up just about everywhere. I am a bit curious how and why they form. Good idea for sure 🤘

As always, I love this video! It's so meticulously crafted - with all the information, all the cards that hold even the tiniest tidbit; I love it. What Rhystic Studies is for art and meta knowledge of the game, your channel is the pendant for everything lore related; such an in-depth knowledge & the beautiful video to support it. I've adhd, so I tend to struggle to focus on content, that's why I miss out most of the visual aspect of your videos, but I can sit through you talking, just listening while I do something else, very soothing voice. Then you mention some specific cards and I pause whatever I'm doing to look at the video again. I was hooked, as always. Thanks for providing all this again and again, I appreciate it a lot.

Two questions: 1. Elves are so popular they've been in every color by this point but what would you say keeps them from going into other colors more often? Like I feel as though elves should have more White in them because White's whole thing when combining with other colors is "we accept _____ as a part of our society" whether that be the dead/undead with black, constructs in blue, the less lawful in red, or the plants and animals in green. Despite this, we seem to see BG elf factions more often (mirroden, lorwyn, ravnica, kaldheim...) than WG (kaladesh is like the only place that comes to mind) 1.5 . Why do you suppose we never see merfolk and elf joint factions? Merfolk are often simply portrayed as "sea elves" in mtg but for some reason we don't see them joining forces to protect nature or even on the same plane a lot of times.
@SickOfItAll19882 жыл бұрын
Red is to impulsive imo, elves are heavily structured and either have societies with strict rules like on Lorwyn or they're attuned to nature and solemn. Blues search for knowledge and perfection is something counter intuitive to how elves live (again imo). Elves cherish the world as it is & see nature as the ultimate state, they don't want to change it or alter it - I guess that's why blue isn't a color we normally see elves in.
@TheMightyBattleSquid2 жыл бұрын
@@SickOfItAll1988 We totally see red and blue elves though. There are 30 red elves and 28 blue elves. There have been gruul elf factions on dominaria, alara, ravnica, zendikar, capenna, and the forgotten realms. There are likewise simic elves on dominaria, alara, ravnica, zendikar, mirrodin, kaladesh, strixhaven, and forgotten realms.

I like the elves of kaladesh. They're at least a little unique, in the sense that they balance the natural with the artificial. The tree hugging druid trope is fine, but taking a different approach is nice. Kaldheim and lorowyn also have slightly different interesting takes on elves too.

Not entirely true: Lorwyn's Elves do not exclusively care about physical beauty. While it is always important to them, they value beauty of all sorts for example the Mornsong tribe which produce the best singers. This does not mean you can be imperfect but sing, but your social status is improved by a good singing voice for example. Btw: Lorwyn Elves are the most unique and my most favourite depiction of elves.
