So appreciate your videos of this trip to Alaska. Yes the scenery is outstanding. Great job with that! But the greatest blessing is that you chose to travel that distance to be with your young brother and his family. This has got to have blessed your mother and Dad so much to watch this. It is a testimony of Gods love for, in and through families. Even though family members may move far away, staying in touch and continue to communicate that love for each other is so important in this day and hour we find our country in. And after what Joan and his family have gone through the past several months, your visit would be a great encouragement to them. God bless your journey. Safe travels!🇺🇸

My wife and I have always wanted to go to Alaska for the scenery and the fishing. Elvie, I’m glad you’re getting some time to spend with your family. It’s always a special time when families have a chance to enjoy each other’s company. On another note, let me share with you a breakfast recipe from my family that goes back well over 100 years. It’s called Chocolate Gravy. Everything is measured in Heaping Tablespoons. 3 Tbsp Sugar 2 Tbsp Flour 1 Tbsp Dark (or milk) Cocoa 8 Oz Milk 1 pinch of salt. Mix the ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat and stir constantly. Heat until the consistency is like thin chocolate pudding. Pour into a bowl or plate and add a pat of butter. Stir the butter until it’s melted. Add precooked biscuits and precooked bacon. ENJOY !!! This is common in Oklahoma, Arkansas and parts of Texas.

When I was a young boy my parents lived in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. I remember my dad and their friends or cousins would drive our old jeep onto the lake, and cut 2 holes in the ice with chainsaws on either side of the Jeep so they could sit in the Jeep and fish. Back on shore the wives and us children would be around the fire, or us kids would be playing. The men would come back to shore with their catch of the day and they’d fry fish and potatoes. That was dinner. My parents lost $4.5 million dollars in land development so we went from Riches to Rags. We literally had to live off of the land. If it weren’t for wild game and fish, we would have starved to death. After a few years my folks got tired of living hand to mouth so my dad applied for a job working for Rockwell and eventually Hanford Nuclear Power Plant in Washington state. My mom started carrying mail for the Post Office. My dad retired as Chief Mechanical Engineer and my mom retired as Post Master.

If we do make it, we will go to Libby to check out Amish Meadows / Meadowlark Log Cabins. I heard that y’all might have some land that’s available for sale. Furthermore, I’d like to meet you in person and have a cup (or several cups) of coffee with you.

I’m confused about something. A few times now you’ve mentioned that the water in your exhaust system froze? I don’t understand. Every diesel pickup we’ve ever owned never had to have any fluid whatsoever in an exhaust system. I’m guessing that I’m very naive about this. Can you please explain what water has to do with an exhaust system?
@AmishMeadowsOfficial7 ай бұрын
Every diesel engine in the United States that was built in 2011 or newer has to be built with the exhaust after treatment system, called diesel exhaust fluid or DEF. It is 65% water, and the rest is ammonia and it sprayed into the exhaust stream and renders the exhaust smoke colorless and harmless. The DEF tank has a heater, but in extreme weather, I believe the heater wasn’t able to keep up and the tank froze.
@Doc18557 ай бұрын
@@AmishMeadowsOfficial Thank you. I didn’t know that. So why aren’t All vehicles produced with a Diesel engine? If there’s no pollution, it seems like that would be the way to go.
