The funny thing about Jake thinking Austin was imitating Elvis is that Austin was more than likely speaking normally, which is probably why Austin chuckled lol. Austin's natural speaking voice has obviously evolved into having remnants of his Elvis dialect.

Austin was encouraged to speak as much like elvis as he could and for two years he did that. It's like moving to Texas from California and two years later you've got the Texas twang. You can't get rid of it. Austin will talk like this until he has a role that forces him to change.

He's got some very tough competition this year from veteran actors like are you kidding me??? Hugh Jackman in The Son, Joaquin Phoenix in Disappointment blvd, Christian bale in Amsterdam, jesse Plemoms in killers of the flower moon. It's going to tough to win but he stands a strong chance to secure a nomination at least

Ok fans, these interviews and the stars are what Hollywood was all about and it somehow got lost….now in a unique way it’s back….it’s time to get a movement started to get Elvis an Oscar for his numerous contributions to the movie and….I was lucky to experience the Elvis world he created back in the 50’s ….black & white television appearances, buying his 45’s for 39 cents, going to see Love Me Tender in a movie palace, that’s right a movie palace in Washington Heights, New York….years later Elvis live in Madison Square Garden…fast forward 3 1/2 years ago I began writing my book, never knowing that this monumental movie was in the works…Of course I haven’t seen the movie yet, only the trailers but the new book Elvis: The Quest for an Oscar gives an accurate account of why Elvis deserves an Oscar for not only his 31 movies but for his unequaled contributions to the movie industry. On another note everyone who had the opportunity to see Elvis movies in the theaters when they were originally released always came away with a unique and gratifying movie experience. Elvis was not only a movie star but a great actor also. Austin Butler will absolutely win the Oscar for his performance in “Elvis”. This is the movie you must see, Elvis: The Quest for an Oscar is the book you must read, 536 pages with a great cover. It’s time Hollywood recognized Elvis for his contributions to the movie industry…when Austin Butler gets his Oscar next year and he will, Hollywood needs to right the ship and give one to Elvis. For those who say I’m wrong, for those who want to criticize these feelings, remember what you are witnessing is coming from the greatness that Elvis possessed……Elvis never really left the building, he is forever right there in our minds and hearts….as Ed Sullivan would say “tonight this is going to be a really really big show right here on our stage, Elvis……Presley………

Austin does not look like himself in the movie. He has dark hair and some slight prosthetics and of course he is moving and singing just like elvis. And omg his blue eyes are so like elvis eyes. Austin is a cute guy and very sexy naturally. But seeing him being elvis, who we all miss, is a magical crazy experience. It's hard to explain why we all have been back to the theater to see this movie a bunch of times. I couldn't get the movie out of my head...

Elvis Presley is unofficially the all time best selling solo artist, which I know younger people cant put their heads around, and most official counting agencies don't even count all of his sales for B.S reasons, such as if a song has been on an album they won't count it on other album's. Also, the RIAA didnt start keeping track of anything until 1959, when Elvis already had over 10 number 1 hits and many millions of records sold. Also Elvis holds the Guinness book of world records record for most total certified gold/platinum singles and albums with 171. I think they have been working on trying to get a Michael biopic in production for a while, but as we have seen with getting Elvis a big screen biopic took 45 years, so I doubt MJ fans won't have to wait that long. With Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono never agreeing on much, I don't know if we will ever get a Beatles biopic.

@@dougdickason That's true about the Paul and Yoko thing, didn't remember that! Michael's biopic might also get bogged down because of the trials and bs abuse allegations he had to deal with through the end period of his life! Anyone that's done their research knows he didn't do it! There's no evidence, the FBI looked into to it for YEARS and found nothing criminal so yeah there's a lot more evidence pointing to defamation than sexual abuse!

Here's my take on the dramatization of American history seen through Baz Luhrmann's lens: Gatsby - Elvis - 45
@L_O27
@L_O27 2 жыл бұрын
When he asked that question, oddly enough, my first thought was DJT, also, and his name shall not be mentioned. But he is a revolting human being and I hope neither Baz nor anyone glorifies him with a Luhrmann-style spectacle movie, as an "illustration of America" or not, and that he leaves this earth and rots and is eventually forgotten, restoring peace to the rest of the population. I'm glad Olivia said "Obama" instead, as it would still illustrate the racism and nationalism that was amplified by his presidency (and which of course worsened with 45), but in a much more classy and uplifting way, as Obama is both of those things.

Oh, you mean Priscilla Beaulieu's EX husband? The problems begin as soon as Priscilla gives her stamp of approval, because that means it has been made to her liking even if she was not involved hands on with the production. It might sound great to many that Priscilla gave the movie her blessing. But the fact remains that she has changed a lot of Elvis history to suit her story. I'm sure he loved her for some of the time they knew each other, but in reality, she barely spent any time alone with him. They met in September 1959 in Germany and he returned to the US in March of 1960. Then they did not have any contact until 1962, the year of her first visit to him in Memphis, from where they (which included his entire entourage) traveled to Las Vegas. She was 17 then (born May 24, 1945). In December she visited again, for Christmas. In 1963 she first moved in with Elvis' father Vernon and stepmother Dee, but after a while she moved into the main house. During these years, Elvis was away from Memphis a lot, making 3 movies a year in Hollywood or locations such as Hawaii. And during all these years he was also still seeing other women. Priscilla herself said multiple times they were hardly ever alone. According to Priscilla, Elvis had promised to marry her when she was 21. But as her birthday had come and gone and her 22nd birthday was approaching and Elvis still had not kept his word, Priscilla, her parents and the colonel (Tom Parker) visited Elvis on a movie set. Nobody knows what really happened there, except that some time during that visit, Elvis had a mysterious fall in the bathroom. All of a sudden everything escalated and a quick wedding ceremony was arranged on May 1, 1967 (23 days before Priscilla's 22nd birthday) in Las Vegas. The strange thing about that was not just the timing, but also that many people who were close to Elvis were contacted by Parker's people to not attend the wedding. The whole ceremony took just a few minutes and afterwards they were ushered into a room for a press conference. Priscilla soon became pregnant, but halfway through her pregnancy, Elvis already wanted to divorce her. 9 months after the wedding, daughter Lisa Marie was born, after which there was almost no physical relationship between Elvis and Priscilla. By then the 1968 Comeback Special had given a new impulse to his career and from 1969 on he was away from Memphis touring the US for an average of 200 days a year. Both Elvis and Priscilla had affairs during their short marriage. They separated in February of 1972 and Priscilla and Lisa Marie moved to California while Elvis remained in Memphis. Elvis filed for divorce on his 38th birthday, January 8, 1973. The divorce was finalized in October of 1973. Priscilla rejected the name Presley and returned to her maiden name Beaulieu after the divorce, stating she wanted to be her own person. She even started a business under that name. But after Elvis died, she soon changed her name to Beaulieu-Presley and some time after that she dropped her maiden name and started calling herself Presley again. She had several relationships after her divorce. In 1984 she met Marco Garibaldi with whom she had a relationship for 21 years. They separated in 2006. Together they had a son, Navarone, in 1987. She never married Garibaldi, although she had a much longer relationship with him than she'd had with Elvis, possibly because she wanted to hang on to the Presley name. Interesting detail is that Elvis did not mention Priscilla at all in his will; not even as guardian of his only child, Lisa Marie.

@@peggypieters661 It's not trashing, it's common sense. Whole new generations of Elvis fans are fed myths and altered timelines etc. If you, for instance, would watch some of the clips on KZbin by Elvis' cousin Billy Smith and family, you immediately realize they keep themselves from talking about certain things the way they really happened because it's clear the other side (Beaulieu etc.) may take measures. They censor themselves because they seem not to want to take risks ruffling anybody's feathers.

You are way off on your opinion I think. No one can replace Elvis, but I'm grateful, just like Lisa Marie, that after all of the disappointing crud that has been attempted on Elvis, that we have someone who, as Lisa said, captured her father's essence and spirit, as well as personality, and mannerisms such as how he held his hand and made certain facial movements. She also said that she didn't realize until watching the movie a second time that it was Austin singing all of the 50's songs. I am sad that your stubbornness is going to keep you from enjoying the film that honors Elvis's true artistic and cultural impact on the world.
