He wants to "''put out the big light, cos' I can't stand to see you this way". His aim is true. He feels like killing her would be doing her a favour.

Not even close, as Elvis is on record stating the contrary. He stated it is about a beautiful woman he saw in the super market, whose life had been reduced to putting price labels on cans of beans.
