I saw Elvis at the Scope in 75. It was the afternoon show. Fantastic show. The second time I saw Elvis was in Hampton just before died. Not sure if that show was 76 or 77, but it was an afternoon show as well. He didn’t move around much, but his voice was still powerful.

My parents took me and my little brother to see Elvis that day. I was 12 years old. I remember the singers walking off stage. I also remember Elvis giving a lady in the audience a ring off his finger because another lady took a scarf that she caught. My first concert and probably the best of all.

What a beautiful architectural structure! Unique! Great pics of Elvis and audio! I noticed a badge he is wearing. One from maybe an officer from Norfolk??? My husband was stationed at Fort Eustis Army base close to Norfolk and our brother-in-law was at The Norfolk Navy Base both in 1968. Shortly after, they were both shipped to Vietnam, both did 2 tours there. Thank you both for your great info and detail to all these places Elvis performed at!! Keep TCB ⚡️🕺👑

I was raised in Chesapeake and Suffolk Virginia. On July 20th 1975 at the 8:30 show a friend and I had the opportunity to see Elvis in concert. I have heard the bootleg soundtrack from the afternoon show but in the last few years there has also been a bootleg of the evening show and when I do listen to it it takes me back to that day and that evening. Where I was sitting I was so far back and so high Elvis just look like a white spot on stage but he put a great show on. Plus my ticket for the evening show at the time was $10. Thank you for sharing the Norfolk Scope and its history because I do remember when it was built. I also have been in the Hampton Roads Coliseum but not for a Elvis concert

Great video series. I Googled the evening show to see about the badge he wore on stage. Never seen him do that before. Looks like his own as a photo exists of him in the limo before the show wearing it. Same show where 3 of his female singers left the stage after he insulted a couple of them.

Possibly given to him by Norfolk police before the show. Was common for police departments to give Elvis badges when he performed in their area.

Elvis definitely stayed at that hotel. When I was a young kid in the late 80's, the lady who cut my hair once told me that she waited outside that hotel all night long after the concert until he left the next day just to give him roses and called him "king" when she handed him the flowers. She said he just took them and rolled off. I remember thinking she was a nut, but also kinda hot for an older lady. I think it used to be called the Sheraton, then it became doubletree, then it became what you see now.

@@epbackontour No problem. It's actually kind of weird that ever since she told me that story, I think of her waiting for Elvis every time I see that building. Then I see your video 35 years later and almost rolled out of my chair laughing. Small world.

The little blind girl… I was there at the afternoon show sat about 3/4 of the way back halfway up. It was a very good show and Elvis mentioned that the acoustics were not good in Scope and he also said it look like a spaceship. As for the little blind girl I was in contact with someone who knew her through Facebook and the lady told me that she lives in Chesapeake Virginia now and she is in her 50s and she is still blind. There is a story going around which is not true that Elvis paid for her eye surgery and she could see you but as I said it’s not true. She stays out of the spotlight evidently she doesn’t have a Facebook page for herself but I did see her in a photo of a relative.
