I think there was more thought put into them, yes. It was probably down to expectation as much as anything. People didn't want to buy cheap looking stuff. There's more of a market here for tat these days, though. Merry Christmas to you too!

The pic I don'y think was cut and paste. Photoshop software wasn't around. Must be a publicity pic from Speedway movie. I must get your Elvis lp book. The publicity pic is an excellent pic from Trouble with Girls movie in the actually red background used by the photographer. The photographers used very bright colours back in the day for celebrities. So happy hunting for great Elvis vinyl continues. Was at a record fair and most of the Elvis lps were Aust pressings. But classical movie soundtracks I had a field day. Keep ups the great work and Merry Xmas and Happy 2024😁👍🎄🎄🎄

I'm a bit late but Merry Christmas! I think they used cut and paste long before Photoshop was around. Look at the cover of How Great Thou Art, for instance. Not to mention the first Christmas Album reissue with the blue cover. Yes, if you get the chance, please get the book. 700 pages of Japanese Elvis records. All the best for 2024!

Hi Dave ,lovely pressing of the Xmas album there they look in amazing condition,the wonderful world of Xmas ,the decorations on the front cover the graphics are the best av seen ,looked as tho you could pick one off the cover ,again the Japanese covers are second to none for me ,a think the US LOC 1035 is still a sort after pressing the first one with the gatefold ,a Remember buying the Camden UK as a 12 or 13 year old n thinking what a great picture on the front cover ,a still think it’s a great pressing ,it’s amazing to think when released in 1957 some radio stations wouldn’t play it was banned ,ridiculous,a believe as of today it’s the greatest selling Xmas album of all time from any artist ,al defo keep a lookout for some o those pressing although a don’t see many Japanese pressing of vinyl a used to see at fairs years ago in the UK ,am planning going to Leeds record fair in the new year ,av not done that one but it’s supposed to be quite a big fair so who knows,great piece Dave ,all the best to you n ya family for Xmas and new year ,tony 🎶🎶🎸🎸🎸🎼🎹

Hi, Tony. LOC-1035 is always expensive in Japan, even copies in ropy condition. I wish I could go with you to the record fair in Leeds. There used to be some good record shops there. I'm from Bradford so I used to regularly hop on a bus to Leeds. I remember finding a batch of mid-60s UK originals in near-mint condition in one shop for a quid each, including There's Always Me. I bought my first ever bootleg records in Leeds as well. Ah, good memories. Merry Christmas, Tony, and I hope you find some great stuff in Leeds.

6:18　1977年に日本で出たLP『ブルー・クリスマス』（Camden : PG-66）には「毎日がクリスマスなら」と「想い出のバラ」が入っていましたが、どちらも擬似ステレオ（pseudo stereo）でしたね。real stereoで出たのは1993年の『From Nashville To Memphis : 60s Masters』（5-CDs）が最初ですね。

なるほど。よくご存じですね。確かにPG-66のラベルに疑似ステレオって書いてあります。だけど僕の耳では2曲ともモノラルに聞こえます。１９８３年にリリースされた「想い出のクリスマス」に「毎日がクリスマスなら」の未発表テイクが入っていますね。あれはステレオだったかな。最近聞いていないので何とも言えないですけど。

No, it's not a misprint. The '50s music was only available in reprocessed stereo for a long time in Japan. The Christmas Album wasn't reissued in Japan in mono until 1992.
