Oh my goodness that song is so sad an that was what Elvis was feeling. I know he probably had to be lonely. Even though he had so many ppl around him ,he still felt like he was alone. I felt so sad for him. An wayne Newton sang that song with so much passion. I loved the song so much. But its really hard to think Elvis was that lonely. Thank you mr. Newton for sharing what was so personal to Elvis. U really did justice. To singing that song. With lots of luv an to Elvis i know hes not alone now. This is heartbreaking to me! A man with people all around him and he was lonely. I know that feeling. It is because sometimes we only need Jesus! He is our friend and guide! That seems to be who Elvis was seeking! Sometimes no one understands what we are going through..BUT JESUS! People didn't see Elvis as needing anything...he had money, fame, looks etc. But yes we all have needs sometimes! There is a lesson...that we should be kind and compassionate to others and their feelings! You never know what someone else is going through! Like Elvis here, we all need.someone to lean on...and we ALWAYS need Jesus! John 3:16. For God so loved....❤️ Remember, help your brother along the way...For the God who made you, made him too!!! What a beautifully touching video, song and note! I think Elvis felt alone because he was missing his twin, a part of himself. The feeling of emptiness and loneliness magnified when his mother passed away. That's when he grabbed on to Priscilla, trying to find what he'd lost. He found his rock to hold on to, but then that rock disintegrated and left him with nothing to hold on to! He could only ask the Lord to help him!

I'm lost for words . I will never understand how such a giving and loving human being like Elvis could not find lasting happiness and love in his own life . It absolutely makes no sense . If anyone can explain that please let me know . This is heartbreaking .

Andrew I cannot assume to understand why Elvis wrote that note, but this is my reasoning based on what I know of Elvis. Having been a surviving twin he lived with the question of “Why me? Why did I live and he didn’t ?” When an identical twin dies, the remaining one often experience this profound survivors’ guilt. The void left when one twin dies also puts the surviving twin at risk for psychiatric disorders. Elvis had a problem with being alone. He particularly did not like to sleep alone. Also, his mother was over protective of him because of the loss of his brother and that only compounded his issues. His mother’s death was a great loss for him and those who were close to him said he never got over it. Then as much as he loved singing and giving freely of himself when it was over the feeling of being alone was overwhelming. His comfort was in reading his Bible, especially the Psalms and singing Gospel music. It was a strong connection to his mother and a peace with the Lord. The very fact that he never forgot where he came from, shared his life and wealth with anyone in need, and passionately loved others and the Lord despite his feelings of unworthiness was an amazing gift from God. I believe that his pain was part of what made him such an unforgettable singer/performer because you felt what he was singing. The video I made titled "Elvis and Ella Mae singing An American Trilogy" is a testimony of this because she was only eighteen months old. That’s the best way that I can explain it. I hope this helps.
