Her Dad would be so proud of her!! Lisa Marie looks so much like him but her son Elvis’s grandson was a splitting image of him but he tragically passed away very very young.

That’s Willie Nelson’s song but Elvis’s cover made it his own. They divorced but stayed very close, the pressure was off and they actually got along better. Elvis Presley could never be a one woman man and he had no business getting married. He really did love Priscilla. They divorced in 1973 and he died in 1977, he went down fast after their divorce. He met her when he was 24 while he was in the service in Germany in 1958.

Unfortunately his ex-wife has - while succesfully marketing Elvis' legacy - managed to make younger generations think she was actually his widow instead of his ex. Priscilla Beaulieu has changed a lot of Elvis history to suit her story. I'm sure he loved her for some of the time they knew each other, but in reality, she barely spent any time alone with him. They met in September 1959 in Germany and he returned to the US in March of 1960. Then they did not have any contact until 1962, the year of her first visit to him in Memphis, from where they (which included his entire entourage) traveled to Las Vegas. She was 17 then (born May 24, 1945). In December she visited again, for Christmas. In 1963 she first moved in with Elvis' father Vernon and stepmother Dee, but after a while she moved into the main house. During these years, Elvis was away from Memphis a lot, making 3 movies a year in Hollywood or locations such as Hawaii. And during all these years he was also still seeing other women. Priscilla herself said multiple times they were hardly ever alone. According to Priscilla, Elvis had promised to marry her when she was 21. But as her birthday had come and gone and her 22nd birthday was approaching and Elvis still had not kept his word, Priscilla, her parents and the colonel (Tom Parker) visited Elvis on a movie set. Nobody knows what really happened there, except that some time during that visit, Elvis had a mysterious fall in the bathroom. All of a sudden everything escalated and a quick wedding ceremony was arranged on May 1, 1967 (23 days before Priscilla's 22nd birthday) in Las Vegas. The strange thing about that was not just the timing, but also that many people who were close to Elvis were contacted by Parker's people to not attend the wedding. The whole ceremony took just a few minutes and afterwards they were ushered into a room for a press conference. Priscilla soon became pregnant, but halfway through her pregnancy, Elvis already wanted to divorce her. 9 months after the wedding, daughter Lisa Marie was born, after which there was almost no physical relationship between Elvis and Priscilla. By then the 1968 Comeback Special had given a new impulse to his career and from 1969 on he was away from Memphis touring the US for an average of 200 days a year. Both Elvis and Priscilla had affairs during their short marriage. They separated in February of 1972 and Elvis filed for divorce on his 38th birthday, January 8, 1973. The divorce was finalized in October of 1973. Priscilla rejected the name Presley and returned to her maiden name Beaulieu after the divorce, stating she wanted to be her own person. She even started a business under that name. But after Elvis died, she soon changed her name to Beaulieu-Presley and some time after that she dropped her maiden name and started calling herself Presley again. She had several relationships after her divorce. In 1984 she met Marco Garibaldi with whom she had a relationship for 21 years. They separated in 2006. Together they had a son, Navarone, in 1987. She never married Garibaldi, although she had a much longer relationship with him than she'd had with Elvis, possibly because she wanted to hang on to the Presley name. Interesting detail is that Elvis did not mention Priscilla at all in his will; not even as guardian of his only child, Lisa Marie.

Why do people waste time trying to solve a failed marriage 50 years later. People say ELVIS still loved Priscilla because he sang this song. SORRY l do not agree. LOOK at the TITLES of approximately 700 songs ELVIS recorded, anyone can read so much into every song. I can even relate to many . I am a new LOYAL ELVIS FAN so really focus on what l see and read. I look at ELVIS with Priscilla from when they first married, there was always a distance from ELVIS, I felt sympathy for the young bride but That is Life .As we know ELVIS wanted a separation 7 months into marriage, to me it was doomed from the start. ELVIS loved women and they loved him. ELVIS loved his daughter, MUSIC AND FANS. Still today more FANS than ever before, We Love Elvis. Unfortunately Vernon died too soon and only natural because of Lisa Marie Her mother took control.. PRISCILLA won the JACKPOT taking control of ELVIS'S Financial Arrangements. VERNON also said ELVIS was offered "WE HAD IT ALL, "but ELVIS would not record it as it would cause people to say it referred to Priscilla and it was not true. Elvis met her during the Army in 1959 in Germany about 8 months before his discharge. She was only 14, he was 24. According to Priscilla, they didn’t have sex till the wedding in May 1967. She was an American, whose military father was stationed in Germany. They kept in contact by letter and phone. In 1963, he talked her parents into sending her to Graceland for her senior yr of high school, to live in his dad’s house on the Graceland property. Elvis grandma, aunt and uncle also lived there. That was kept secret from the press, as it would have caused a scandal. Elvis owned 2 homes in Ca. for when he was doing movies in the 60s. They were often separated, and he had sex with other women. She also had an affair with her Karate instructor. It was she who wanted a divorce. There divorce was very friendly, he made a generous settlement and they both raised their daughter. They remained good friends and she attended some of his concerts. She later was an actress for awhile. Priscilla is 76 and still alive. Elvis did not write this song, but he did sing this and lots of other sad love songs.

You could tell they loved each other very much. I just don't think they were meant to be married it seemed they got along much better after they separated. Elvis loved women and they loved him and you just can't take for granted a beautiful woman like Priscilla because other men will come knocking, & they did. However, Priscilla has done more than anyone to preserve Elvis' legacy & I wish her a long life because I just don't know if Lisa Marie will be able to manage his legacy as well as Priscilla has.

They kept in touch, though, over the phone and she ended up moving to Memphis when she was 17. They married 5 years later and had Lisa Marie exactly 9 months after. Being married to Elvis Presley was not easy, he had a lot of affairs and probably shouldn't have ever been married, and the lifestyle was difficult. She ended up cheating on him also. However, they remained close afterward, and Lisa stayed with Elvis when he wasn't on tour or in Vegas. He paid Priscilla $10,000/month after the divorce (in 1973! That's like, $63k in today's money). They remained good friends until he died, and she has taken good care of his estate, no matter what anyone says. Elvis was nearly broke when he died and she opened up Graceland to the public. A lot of Elvis fans have issues with Priscilla (not without reason), but she did preserve his legacy in a way that is accessible for fans to be able to enjoy to this day.

In the Post Military interview you watched, she was the girl that Elvis said he was seeing and who saw him off at the Airport and he said it wasn't a big romance, it wasn't like that, the media said " the girl he left behind"......Well.....that was his future wife Priscilla. She was young only 14 but Elvis was drawn to her because she reminded him of his late Mom. She remained in Germany with her family but She and Elvis wrote letters and spoke on the phone often. When she was 16 1/2 she begged her Dad to let her go and visit Elvis, she did and after she returned home Elvis asked if she could come to live with his Dad and Stepmother to finish her schooling. When she was 17 she moved in with Elvis's Dad and Stepmother and when she turned 18 she moved into Graceland with Elvis. They Married when she turned 21 in 1967. Priscilla has always stated that she was a Virgin on their wedding night and that's how Elvis wanted it. Their Daughter Lisa Marie was born 9 months to the day after their Wedding. There were rumors of Elvis with other woman when he was on tour how much was true and how much was tabloid who knows, but In 1972 Priscilla left Elvis for Mike Stone, a friend of Elvis's who he asked to teach his wife Karate while he was on Tour. It shocked Elvis and I think it was then that he really realized how much he loved her and that maybe he had taken her love for granted. They remained good friends and spoke on the phone often. Priscilla said he was the Love of her Life and the feeling was mutual. The Divorce was final in 1973. Some friends said Elvis never got over their break up and he wanted her back till the day he Died. The last 4 years of his life were troubled, and he even admitted once that he was a bit self destructive. He had health issues and he became addicted to Pain meds perscribed by his doctor and his life began to spiral out of control contributing to his death on Aug 16, 1977.

Night before the wedding his housekeeper or cook ( I can't remember which) found him sitting on the stairs upset saying( I don't remember the exact words but something like" I can't get out of this. I was friends with Charlie Hodge his confidant and best friend for years after Elvis died n he told me that it was too late to get out of it. Priscilla also had an affair. He had to look happy all the time as his photographer was always trying to get the perfect picture. They were close after the divorce as they wanted Lisa to have quality time with her daddy. Charlie told me alot over the 8 years I knew him n even kept a journal on the stories that he told me about his time with Elvis n he lived with Elvis for 17 years after they met in the Army, .Now I think Priscilla is a beautiful woman n has been a great business. woman keeping Graceland for all his fans to enjoy.
