The bass singer is J D Sumner, the guy all the way on the right. Elvis used to tease him that his voice was deeper than whale sh*t. Good friends for many years. All the songs from this concert are worth listening to - it was a masterful performance no one else will match. When this concert was performed live, over 1 billion people saw it live - roughly one out of every four people on the planet. Delayed broadcasts brought that number to 1.5 billion people. Never done since. Nobody compares to Elvis.

I have been his fan since I first heard him sing.

BRO, You notice how ELVIS moves and gestures during his live performances, that's him being band director; background chorus director, and anything else to keep his music as close to perfect as possible. There are rehearsal videos of new songs being fine-tuned for his live shows. No matter how particular he was, ELVIS had that ability to be a Southern Gentleman about everthing. A request from that same 1973 Aloha concert, "What Now My Love"; "You Gave A Mountain"; And "Steamroller Blues". THANK YOU! EDIT: The Rehearsal '73 Show!!

I can't tell you how much i love and miss him, there is not a day that goes by that i don't think of him and all the memories we made in 10 short years, his death knocked the wind out of me i have never been the same since, Elvis was the big brother i never had. He is also my guardian angel. Graceland is my go to place when it get's to hard to live w/o my friend i go there and walk around and remember Elvis and all the beautiful times we had together. He was the only person in my life that understood me and cared about my feelings and opinions. What it comes down to is we both needed a true friend and we were that for each other. Awesome reaction. I had to set some fool straight last night people trying to dirty Elvis name not on my watch what sickens me the most is the people that are talking smack know nothing of what they are speaking of, i have spent my entire adult life speaking out to people that try and judge a beautiful soul that is not here to defend himself and don't get me started on my girl Priscilla people hate her because they are straight up jealous she made Graceland prosperous no one else and people putting her down no way not while i still have breath in my lungs no one i mean no one will disrespect them period. God bless you and your family from the one and only Memphis Tn. 😭Elvis told me all the time you should always know where you stand with people now i know what he meant. #forevermyking

There are actually 2 different recordings of this concert. 1 is the dress rehearsal with a full audience and they did the whole concert straight through. and the 2nd is, of course, the actual live concert. Pace yourself, stay hydrated. ❤️ Anything from this 73 concert is excellent, though Elvis toned down his movements so as not to offend other countries around the world. This concert was for charity, to raise funds for a Hawaiian singer-songwriter, Kui Lee who died of cancer. Elvis sings his song, "I'll Remember You" and it is beautiful. I was born during his “prime”. I was 8 years old when he did this Aloha From Hawaii concert. But I remember watching it with my 2 sisters. I grew up listening to Elvis because I had 2 sisters (15 & 17 years older than me), who thought he walked on water. In my opinion, Elvis looks his best during this time. I watched a documentary about how this show came together. It was a big deal at the time to broadcast live all over the world. The guy/producer told Elvis that unless he lost 25 pounds, he/producer would find another performer or just pull the plug on it. As you can see, Elvis lost the weight and looked amazing. His voice…no words.

Love that you refer to him as "EP". Respect 🙌🏼. For those that weren't aware....that's what he was always called growing up.....not his first name. His first and last name was only used to introduce or reference him. The single name "ELVIS" was part of his entertainment image and, of course, was well-marketed and became one of the most instantly recognizable and universally known brand names in entertainment history. Along with his glorious voice. The only other name bigger than ELVIS is JESUS. Thank you for this reaction to another historically relevant event of its kind by a musical revolutionary and iconic legend💯⚡❤
