I'll be honest, out of all the Elvis songs I heard Elvis sing, I never heard him hurl out the power behind his voice like this particular song of his! It almost defies physics how he was able to get those notes with his deep raspy voice perfectly. Gotta be heaven singing through him on this one

I think you just nailed it bang on. The song's a bs free build up of glory, happiness, and hope. All in about just over 3 minutes. I'm glad you noticed how raspy yet powerful his voice is. Maybe his finest performance ever, but there's so many.

Elvis Presley - If I Can Dream There must be lights burning brighter somewhere Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue If I can dream of a better land, where all my brothers walk hand in hand Tell me why, oh why, oh why can't my dream come true, oh why [Verse 2] There must be peace and understanding sometime Strong wind of promise that will blow away the doubt and fear If I can dream of a warmer sun, where hope keeps shining on everyone Tell me why, oh why, oh why won't that sun appear [Bridge] We're lost in a cloud with too much rain We're trapped in a world that's troubled with pain But as long as a man has the strength to dream He can redeem his soul and fly (He can fly) [Verse 3] Deep in my heart, there's a trembling question Still, I am sure that the answer's... answer's gonna come somehow Out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle, yeah And while I can think, while I can talk, while I can stand, while I can walk While I can dream, oh, please let my dream come true, oh, right now [Outro] Let it come true right now Oh, yeah

1968: Songwriter W. Earl Brown was showing this to Colonel Tom Parker, who said it wasn't an Elvis kind of song. Elvis, from the other room, disagreed: "I'd like to try it". This was the final result. The Southern Gospel music of his boyhood in Memphis was a large influence in his later recordings.

“If I Can Dream” (1968) marked the rebirth of Elvis Presley’s career after he spent most of the 1960s recording soundtracks to the films he was appearing in. The hopeful and uplifting song was written as a response to the assassinations - just a few months earlier - of two FAMOUS DREAMERS : Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 1968) and Robert Francis Kennedy (1925 - 1968). This was the superstar’s biggest chart hit since “Love Letters” (1966)❗️ In 2017, Priscilla Presley stated that “If I Can Dream” and “An American Trilogy” (1972) were her two favorite Elvis pieces. WORTH A LISTEN… OR TEN‼️ 💙💭💜 Always loved, never forgotten, forever missed will you remain, Elvis Aaron Presley (1935 - 1977)… 🌹

@durabelle2 жыл бұрын
Same here, had to hear the original after listening to the Måneskin cover for a few times already. For any of you true Elvis fans this should be a good thing, it's all just proof that his songs can still be current and that people still love him enough to make new movies about him. (The cover we're talking about is on the movie soundtrack in case that wasn't clear.) I always see it as a positive when people are willing to learn more about music (or anything really), instead of just limiting themselves to one band, one style, or one era. So yes, we may have heard this through Måneskin, but we are here now checking out the original too, aren't we? Enough space in our heads and hearts for more than just one great band. Maybe stop being petty about it and accept covers as tributes and free advertisement to great artists and songs like they're meant to be 😊
@durabelle2 жыл бұрын
Oh, and if you seriously have not heard of Måneskin maybe give them a chance too? If they're good enough to open a concert for the Rolling Stones, win the Eurovision song contests and other music awards, top the charts in many countries including the US, and to fill huge venues, they've clearly already proven to be worth a try. If you still hate them, no big deal, but at least next time you won't sound like you've been living under a rock for the past year and a bit 😁

I never was the biggest Elvis fan, but while on vacation in Memphis we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tour Graceland. The final part of the tour takes you to his racketball court as the little ipad microphone combo tells you his path on his last day on earth. After that you walk to the meditation garden as this song plays, staring at his grave with this song playing nearly made me cry, after the whole tour Elvis has a true part in my heart and now he is one of my favorite artists. But that moment in the meditation harder still replays whenever i hear this song.
