You shouldn't be making such useless comments like that. How many India would've understood this man's song? And don't forget how much years had it been after independence and Shammi's era. How would native culture develop in that case? Dont disrespect our flagships buddy.

@@shivendrayadav9704 since others do not have access to an art , is it okay to copy that and say it's his/her unique style and when finally it out in the open say ..well he brought this form of art to people. Every art is inspired by something other or even copied but Bollywood is an ungrateful copy industry

@@subhasisjoshi8135 I agree on that with you bro, I'll quote one most recent example, 'Woh subha hami se aayegi' from BegumJaaan '17, this song was written by Sahir Ludhiaanvi, I found it on many websites that 'Kausar Munir' was attributed as a lyricist to this song .. So you see..

Oh hell no: With all due respect to Elvis, "Jaan Pehechan Ho" , Mohammed Rafi | Shankar Jaikishan , Laxmi Chhaya & Herman Benjamin are totally unique and deserves their place in cinema ... one of the coolest songs / dance numbers ever ! And two years later ," Gulaabi Raat Gulaabi" from " Upkar" (1967), sung by Asha Bohsle , music by Kalyanji Anandji, while Laxmi Chhaya does her magic is truly awesome ! ...And Shammi Kapoor's acting holds up pretty damn well to any 50's / 60's USA "Musical" number , even if he is always lip synching to Mohammed Rafi: and I don't speak a word of Hindi, just watching it with subtitles is pure gold. I guess you just have to like old movies / music in general to appreciate both for what they are ..and the audience in India got a bang for their buck for sure ... kzbin.info/www/bejne/jp-lk52Zas2gntE&ab_channel=UltraBollywood kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5aQYolpht59i5o&ab_channel=Aryan

Elvis would have not sold over 600 million copies if he was only big in America! He was big worldwide and still is!!! That's why people still draw inspiration from him! He continues to inspire some top pop artists of this generation!! Bruno Mars was inspired by Elvis!

And Elvis also took from black culture. Everyone takes it from someone and is inspired and then it's tweak down to their audience. Old Bollywood was actually pretty good. Many foreign jazz singers find old Bollywood music similar. Pearl harbour also took it's plot from an old Bollywood movie. So vice versa happens too sometimes.
@champflowahbomb7630

He definitely did NOT TAKE from black culture. The era he was born in, Americans were extremely poor and poverty was unimaginable. If you ever feel broke, just think about how awful people from the 30s and 40s in the depression had it. So because of poverty, black people white people and even Jews lived together in same neighborhoods. They all were around each other singing and dancing the same tunes. So essentially, their culture is the same because when your poor you are just that...poor. poverty doesn't care whether your black white Spanish. And to deal with their conditions, these people sang and made merry. I hate it when people accuse Elvis of stealing. Everyone is so cynical and ready to tear down success nowadays! Jeez, just enjoy the fact we had such a great artist because no matter what, he was lovely and made music we can't get away from even today.

Hypocrisy at its best. If the other way around we would have sued them. If we feel they took from us, even if it's not true, we shout at the top of our voice and when w E are caught coping, we find such flimsy excuses. Time Indians grow a spine

@@champflowahbomb7630 Hey he didn't steal but was definitely inspired by them! Almost everyone from the 50s-60s era discovered the old blues gems and was used it to make something of their own. Being poor doesn't mean you can't inspire a generation 😉If not for blues we wouldn't have anything. No Presley, no stones, no Hendrix, no Clapton, no Zeppelin, no Pink Floyd, no doors, no jazz, no rock n roll. Can you imagine that? Yeah it would suck.
