It was a few months after his wife left him, and a few months before they divorced. Great song, absolutly great voice with a sad backstory!

Elvis and Muhammad Ali first met in February 1973 in Las Vegas where they were photographed together. Elvis gave Ali a custom made white bejeweled robe and Ali gave Elvis boxing gloves and signed "Elvis, your the greatest, from Muhammad Ali. Peace 1973" the robe had the words "The peoples choice" but it was supposed to say "The peoples champ" but he wore it anyway. In 1988 Ali donated the robe to the Hard rock cafe in New York. It is now on display at the Muhammad Ali centre in Louisville

Even though Elvis started on the wrong foot this still seems perfect. Notice maestro Joe Guercio jerking his hands at the horns because Elvis started singing 8 seconds too early. Priceless.

It's a beautiful song written and recorded by Jimmie Rodgers. Jimmie was most famous for his cover of "Honeycomb." Rodgers has had many health issues. He's 87 now. I don't know if Elvis ever sang this song again in concert. If anyone knows, please inform me.

Well, Muhammad did meet Elvis and they had a lasting friendship until Elvis passed. Upon hearing of Elvis's death Muhammad Ali said he " lost a true friend, Elvis was the kindest most humble man I ever met".
