Elvis Presley Palm Springs Home: A Narrated Tour By Current Owner (Part 1)

A narrated tour of the Elvis Presley Palm Springs Estate at 845 W Chino Canyon, Palm Springs, California, by my good buddy Reno Fonana, who is the current co-owner of the former King of Rock and Roll's winter retreat from the Memphis winter.
This is the only home Elvis owned other than Graceland at his death and spent about 2.5 months a year at this home.
INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THIS PROPERTY:
Elvis spent his last birthday here;
Elvis last visited this property a mere 26 days prior to his death;
Elvis bought this property in 1970 with Priscilla after leasing another home nearby for a year.
The property was fairly looted upon the knowledge that Elvis had died in Memphis on August 16, 1977 and many possessions/artifacts were lost.
When in Palm Springs, be sure to stop by and say hi. Paid tours are offered on a daily basis to the Elvis faithful. People even today still flock to the gates of what the New York Times once called, "Graceland West".

Elvis also had some of the rocks and gravel in the front yard painted green to avoid watering while he was away from the house. You can still see some of the paint...

I've struck up a friendship with the current owner and it's kind of neat to walk in the steps of the King, as I grew up a big Elvis fan. The house is in need of some repair, and the lack of modern upgrades kind of keeps the house in a perpetual 1970's look and feel. I can tell you Elvis did not have great taste in home decor, but this is typical of people such as Elvis who grow up in a share cropper family then suddenly come into an avalanche of money.

It has been reported that Elvis paid $105,000 in 1970 for the home. It was reported to be sold for around 3 million around 6 years ago. It is now in private hands and I am glad to have spent time in Elvis' home over the years.

Sorry, but the home was lost to foreclosure to the last 2 owners. It is currently closed to the public. The best you will see inside the property are various videos I shot on this channel and one of my other channels: friendsofelvisps. It's super hot in Palm Springs in August...wear your sunscreen and have fun!

Yes, this is the ONLY house he actually owned in Palm Springs when he died (other than Graceland) . The other house "the Honeymoon Hideaway" was only leased for 1 year, and was a several blocks away, in the general same neighborhood (leased in the late 60s). People broke into this house and sold pieces of the carpet to fans after Elvis died in 1977-onwards.

It isn't a painting, it was a steel sculpture made by Jeffrey Howe. It is no longer affixed to the house. The home has again changed hands and is no longer open to the public.

So Elvis spent 2.5 months a year at this house, which means 45 days a year. He was here for his birthday on January 8, 1977 and he spent, according to this video, 3 weeks that January (21 days). This means that at least he came on January 7 and left on January 27. Also, he spent 26 days before the day he passed away, which means that it was the 27th day. Why Elvis could have been broken his habit of spending 45 days a year at this house? Why he spent all the 45 days of the year and why he decided to spent at this house that 1977 year 2 extra days? Why so many lies about Elvis Presley? The “current owner” still doesn’t tell when he bought this house.
