When Elvis Presley first took to the stage in the mid-1950s, his wild hip thrusting and sultry voice gave conservative America a heart attack. But his young fans, particularly his young female fans, couldn’t get enough of the soon-to-be King of rock ’n’ roll. Many of those devotees are now distinguished elders, and while they continue to adore Elvis, they’re also revealing some long-held secrets. Amelia Adams discovers the King actually dated quite a few of them when they were young teenagers. And for those with suspicious minds, it raises questions about whether Elvis Presley’s obsession with 14-year-olds means he was really a devil in disguise.

When my parents just got married, my dad, who was a Mason, was doing a custom house for the Reno gaming commissioner…He asked my dad “Do you want to go see Elvis tonight?”, my dad said ,”Of course”..so he called ahead, and my dad and my mom went to a Reno Elvis show…they went thru the back door, got the front middle table and a bottle of champagne. When Elvis came over to Kiss my mom(as he did back then), my dad told my mom,”Give Elvis a kiss”…my newlywed mom said,” No honey, i’m married now”…and declined the kiss from Elvis. I thought that was the coolest story of my mom and dads love story.

I'll agree that times were different, but there's something creepy about a man in his late 30's being interested in a 14-year-old girl, and something odd about parents allowing their 14-year-old daughter to spend the night with older men. That in itself seems wrong, even for that time.

Are you talking about Elvis? He was 24 when they met, and they didn't marry (and Elvis only did so because he felt bad for her about the publicity their relationship was getting) until she was 21 and he was 31.

@@IraRochaa I am a life long fan of Elvis and I never heard any of this stuff until Priscilla started making these movies. I wouldn't put it past her to be behind all of this negativity. Putting these people up to this. Why? Elvis was in Hollywood and dating a lot of his co stars. She admitted more than once about her extreme jealousy of Ann Margret and Elvis's close relationship that lasted until he died. He attended Ann's Vegas shows and it is well known that he sent her flowers until he died. I don't believe these women in this video. They say things that I've heard Priscilla say. They all sound alike. Priscilla will never forget the fact that Elvis didn't spend enough time with her. She wanted him all to herself but she also knew that her stepdad forced Elvis to marry her. She should have realized a long time ago that a marriage like that would drive him farther away. How would he even have time for all these girls. He is famously known as the hardest working entertainer ever. No one then or now did as many shows/ performances as he did each year. He was scheduled to do a 12 date tour the day after he died. Illness and dying. He had already played well over 50 dates that year. Elvis worked like no other artist. Not for money. For his fans and his passion for music and singing. Priscilla knew this movie and her interviews would bring the vultures. She's self absorbed and a sad figure of a woman. Almost 80 and all alone.

My mother was 15 when she married my father, he was 21. She had all 3 of her babies by 19. Back then it just wasn't a big deal. It always seemed that women or young ladies wanted an older man to take care of them and the family. My grandmother was also very young. My grandfather was 10 years older. He built a house for her and then went to her parents to ask for her hand. They were so impressed that he built a house to bring his bride to they approved of her getting married at 14. My grandmother told me he was so respectful that he gave her a room to herself until she was a bit older and more comfortable being in a romantic relationship. They waited 5 years for her to join him in the same room. She had my father when she was 20. She told me how he cared for her and wouldn't let anything hurt her. It's the sweetest love I've heard.

🐟 27. MARRIAGE & THE FAMILY: Matrimony is the contractual union of a man with one or more women, primarily for the purpose of PROCREATION and child-rearing. The couple should be brought together by their respective parents, and if practical, some sort of nuptial ceremony performed. Once a couple has been engaged to be married, they should not break the agreement, unless one party has been proven to have lost his or her virginity with a third party. OBVIOUSLY, after the wedding, the marriage contract cannot be broken, unless one or both parties has committed adultery, or one party has chosen to no longer carry out his or her marital duties (for instance, if the husband refuses to materially-support his wife/wives, or the wife refuses to perform domestic chores for her master, both of which are legitimate grounds for divorce). A RESPONSIBLE father will objectively evaluate the unique characteristics, virtues, idiosyncrasies, and shortcomings of his child from a relatively early age, and thereafter, seek a compatible spouse from the available pool of persons in his social circles. Unless his nation faces extinction, the potential match should not be any closer to his child than a cousin. If a prospective couple do not belong to the same clan (and thereby do not share the same family name), it is probable that their genetic code is sufficiently divergent to create healthy offspring. As implied above, incestuous marriage should only be condoned if the human race is in danger of extermination, or possibly in the instance where an entire race or nation is on the verge of annihilation. If one’s parents fail in their duty to select a suitable mate, one should very carefully choose a COMPATIBLE spouse. The recommended criteria used to evaluate marital compatibility are as follows: physical characteristics (such as relative height and sexual attractiveness), personality type, intelligence, emotional temperament, diet, cultural similarities, political ideology, religious affiliation, and life goals. One of the major causes of conjugal breakdown in recent decades has been due to the couple selecting each other based solely (or at least predominantly) on sexual attraction and/or amorous attachments, with little consideration given to the other guiding principles, listed above. Romance rarely lasts more than a couple of years. Marriage is an institution based largely on PRACTICAL considerations, not on lustful feelings or on fleeting sentimentality. Without firm, practical reasons for a couple remaining conjugally-bound, they are susceptible to marital divorce. Generally speaking, women have the potent desire to raise children, and require a man with which to mate, and then protect and support her and the offspring, during the fifteen-plus years (for EACH child) of child-rearing. Most men also desire to have a family, and additionally, possess a very powerful libido, which, if not channelled in a legitimate fashion, can cause a great deal of social misbehaviour (e.g. rape, etc.). There is no such thing as a nun in the eyes of God. Therefore, unless a woman is seriously disabled, either physically or psychologically, or else a lesbian, she is lawfully OBLIGATED to marry the man preselected by her parents (or if her parents are deceased, by her extant master, whether that be her grandfather, an uncle, or an adult nephew). Ideally, women ought to be betrothed as soon as they reach adulthood, to avoid a childless existence. Quite understandably, very few men have aspirations to mate with a post-menopausal female. Marriage is mandatory for men too, apart from missionary priests, those unfortunate males who are unable to support a family for reasons of mental or physical incapacity, men who are simply passed-over by hypergamous females due to being perceived as low-value suitors, homosexuals (meaning, men who are not at all attracted to the opposite gender. Bisexuals are not exempt from marriage), and men who reside in jurisdictions where ILLEGITIMATE feministic governments enact so-called “laws” which abrogate the lawful rights of married men. In my particular case, despite being a model husband and father, my first wife, with the support of the dirty, demonic, democratic Australian government, literally kidnapped my three precious children, whilst my second wife, with the assistance of the equally-wicked, violent, corrupt, murderous Filipino government, stole my presbytery (the house of a priest). The recent exodus of men in Western countries from the dating pool (or at least from formal marriage) is more than understandable. The man should be approximately ten to twenty years OLDER than his wife/wives. Some of the reasons for this are: It is natural for women to be attracted to older men and for men to be attracted to younger women. There is a good evolutionary reason why women reach their sexual peak between the ages of about fifteen to twenty-five and why a man's sexual market value peaks in his thirties to fifties. The female matures earlier (physically and socially), so if she mates with a man of similar age, she may find her spouse to be emotionally immature. The husband is almost a substitute for the woman's father figure, so the husband’s age gives him added authority as head of the family. Also, it gives the man extra time to establish his career, a house and home for his wife and forthcoming progeny. The main duties of the HUSBAND are to teach his wife/wives and sons whatever beneficial lessons he has learnt from his own masters, protect his family from harm, and supply their necessities of life (that is, food, clothing, and shelter) as well as desired luxuries, if practicable. The English noun “husband” comes from the Old Norse word “hûsbôndi”, meaning “master of the house”. Marriage is not a democracy. Any so-called man who compromises with his subordinates, whether they be his wife/wives or his offspring, is surely doomed to failure. Feminized western men, in particular, are guilty of such uxoriousness. Such emasculated “men” are not true men, and desperately need to regain their dignity as the head of their homes. The main daily duties of the WIFE are to execute domestic chores such as to cook, clean, sew, take care of the children, and to keep the husband sexually satisfied so he doesn't look at other women. The wife should submit to the will of her husband. She should fully respect him as her master, and should address him accordingly. Whilst conversing, the wife should focus her attention completely on her husband. She should listen carefully to what he says, learn what he is saying, answer him, and obey his instructions. A man should never be alone with any female, apart from his wife, of course. POLYGAMY has been taught by all the major religions. Unfortunately, the “westernized” religious cults seem to have done away with the practice for unbeknown reasons. The reason for polygamy is simply due to the fact that every woman needs a husband. Also, a certain proportion of men are destined to die as bachelors due to female hypergamy, which is a natural trait of women (even if it may seem unfair). When a woman marries, she LITERALLY joins the family of her husband. She takes her master's family name, and the husband's parents become her parents, which is why they are called “father/mother-in-law”, that is, “father/mother according to the law” (the one and only law of God, or more accurately, the Universal Law, as propounded in Chapter 12). I think 60 Minutes Australia often features more controversial and truthful investigative news stories that the 60 Minutes US has the courage to show. There is much political and economic interference here preventing the broadcasting of sensitive and controversial stories that hit close to home. The thin-skinned reporters here tend to pander and not ask too many uncomfortable questions to the political and economic elites they are interviewing. When the interviewees are being evasive or refusing to answer the questions, the US reporters don't press them any further and let them off the hook too easily. I enjoy your program. I do think this particular segment is a waste of time. Why trash Elvis now? It was a different time, we have different social norms now. Hes not here to defend his actions. I think this segment is in poor taste. If he was prosecuted for something, or could be held accountable during the time was alive, that’s one thing. But being tried in the media at this point is stupid. I don’t like it when these retrospectives come out re-examining people who can’t defend themselves. There are more important things going on in the world that need attention. I’m not condoning his actions, but this is icky. It’s the trend now, to re examine everything because everyone wants to put their opinion out into the world, and has a platform to do it.

It seems he didn’t have sexual relations with these girls. It’s weird, but then I think it would take a dozen psychiatrists years to decipher Elvis’ extraordinarily complex character! I’m no psychotherapist but I get the feeling that he was emotionally and mentally stunted in his development. An obsessively over-protective mother perhaps, and then fame doing the rest. He had many actual sexual relationships with grown women but he seemed to draw the line with adolescents. I do think it strange of course but I think we’re looking at a psychological problem on his part rather than something truly sinister. These ladies don’t seem to have come to any harm and I don’t believe that Elvis meant to harm them.

@@irinasofia_sm I listened to it the girls said Elvis was the nicest person they ever dated and when they tried to manipulate Elvis into a sexual experience he turned them down flat. The problem with this segment is the reporter didn't define "grooming" to contextualize Elvis' relationships. NSPCC defines "grooming" as "when someone builds a relationship, trust, and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit, and abuse them. Children and young people who are groomed can be sexually abused, exploited, or trafficked. Anybody can be a groomer, no matter their age, gender, or race." According to the Psychology Center, "Sexual manipulation involves being manipulated or coerced into doing any sort of sexual activity. Sexual manipulation can include threatening, guilt-tripping, or sulking when they’re rejected. It can also include giving you alcohol or drugs with the intention of getting you to have sex with them." The U.S. Department of State defines the exploitation of a child as: "Examples include child pornography, child sex trafficking, sextortion, the live streaming of child sexual abuse, and child sex tourism. Exploitation: Exploitation can be defined as the act of involving a child for economic or other reasons in criminal activities." And HHS.gov defines abuse as: Child Abuse and Neglect "Any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation"; or. "An act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm." Again I point out, that the segment mentioned, that Elvis did not engage in any sexual activity with these girls. He didn't engage in sex with Priscilla until they were married. His relationship with women was shaped by the relationship he had with his mother Gladys. That relationship was triggered by Elvis' twin brother Jesse being stillborn and allowed to flourish when Elvis' father Vernon was sentenced to hard time for being falsely imprisoned for altering a check. They developed pet names for one another and slept in the same bed because of their extreme poverty. Jerry Lee Lewis said in an interview that he was 13 and she was 17 when he married for the first time. He then married a second time when he was 16 and she was 16, then he married his third cousin Myra when he was 22 and she was 13. Dolittle Lynn was 21 when he married a 15-year-old Loretta. Elvis started a relationship with Tempest Storm when she was 29 and he was 22. Elvis' parents were 21 and 17 when they got married. They lied on their marriage certificate because it was considered scandalous in the South for an older woman to marry a younger man. These actions were an old Southern custom. A practice that from my understanding was discontinued by the mid-1970s. I believe this practice was acceptable because poor families had to marry off their oldest to reduce the financial hardships for the rest of the household. But if you were born into this situation, you don't take the time to be a devil's advocate and look at the practice from the outside, so some people may consider it a social norm even if they are no longer impoverished. I recommend you watch a video titled "Part 2: MMK Responds to Priscilla's Interview" by the Memphis Mafia Kid on his KZbin channel. MMK lived at Graceland while his father, Elvis' first cousin, worked for Elvis. He honestly discusses the points that surfaced in the recent Piers Morgan and Priscilla interview. Adult decisions and social practices are shaped by the examples taught to them when they were children. Some adults can analyze what they experienced as children and change the negative into a positive. Most adults can't or refuse to see that what their parents and their parent's peer group did was wrong, so the bad practices continue because they refuse to see their parents as infallible. The release of this segment to coincide with the release of "Priscilla" supports the concerns Lisa Marie had back in September of 2022. Variety published her emails arguing to Sophia Coppola that today people would not understand the relationships her father had with women. The film would hurt her father's legacy, damage the relationship she has with her mother, and hurt her family.

Yes, he had some kind of arrested development, and liked the juvenile version of a relationship with these girls. The lady in the video spelled that out. I think that she's right. His relationship with his mom was kind of weird. Yes, I think that played into this "respectful" behavior of young girls. However, remember he said 14 will get you 20, so he was aware of the danger, criminally, if he went further with them. You've got to wonder what kinds of conversations he had with these young girls. You can be it wasn't deeply philosphical. Most grown men would not be attracted to 14 year old girls, if nothing more than they'd find them to be a complete bore, mentally.

@gratefuldead4605 I'm one of the true fans of Elvis. The music and movies were a huge part of my girlhood. I had a wonderful youth with lots of fun activities to fill my time. Music, family, horseback riding, swimming, pets, friends, movies etc. But Elvis had such a wonderful, exciting, unforgettable impact. From the first time I heard him sing and then saw him. It is almost unexplainable. That feeling is unmatched to this day. I saw him for the last time in Louisiana the year he died. My love for Elvis Aaron Presley is forever. 🎶🎤🎸🎹🎶⚡🔥❤️‍🔥🙏

Even in the 80’s , in the region where I grew up, the age for girls to get married was 15 years old, my 2 older sisters got married at 16 years old, as well as my friends and relatives, I was the only one who resisted, but When I reached 18 I was under a lot of pressure from my father and I suffered a lot of bullying for being single. Here's a fact that might put things in perspective - In 1885, the age of consent in Delaware was was just 7 years. The point being that you cannot judge someone's behaviour living in a different point in time. In Southern America, when Elvis was growing up, it was common for girls in their early teens to date grown men. In the 1600's, across Europe, girls used to get married at 12 years old. Different times, different values. I mean, if all he done was kiss these girls then that hardly justifies anyone calling him a peadophile. Has there been any cases where a 14 year old girl has accused Elvis of having sex with them? I'm certainly not trying to justify Elvis's behaviour I just feel people need to understand that the world they live in today is vastly different to the world Elvis grew up in. Having said that, I doubt Elvis himself, would have allowed his daughter of 14 to date a 30 year old man.

I’m not defending any of this, but Elvis dated a lot of women who were of legal age or closer in age to him like Barbara Hearn, June Juanico, Anita Wood, etc. but they’re never talked about for some reason. I’ve even seen his high school sweetheart Dixie Locke mistakenly referred to as an underage girlfriend of his and in reality she was only 3 years younger than him. He proposed to Debra Paget during the filming of Love Me Tender and she was older than him. Many people say Ann Margret was the love of his life and that he wanted to marry her instead of Priscilla and she wasn’t underage. In 1974 his girlfriends were Linda Thompson and Sheila Ryan, both of whom were in their 20’s. And in 1974 he also bought a young black woman named Maggie Smith a car and hired her to work at Graceland. According to his cook Nancy Rooks they had a romance. It’s sad she’s never talked about in the media but some of these other stories are promoted. Meh.

Elvis must have never had time to sleep, eat, go to the bathroom or perform. I toured his boyhood home in Tupelo, Mississippi that he lived in before he built Graceland, many years ago. He grew up in a 2 room clapboard "Shotgun Shack" in a lower class neighborhood. There was the livingroom that also served as a bedroom at night where the family slept together and in the next room was the kitchen. There used to be an outhouse in the back, but the trustees of the estate had it torn down. These older Shotgun Shacks are very common style of long, narrow home in the Southern US, you see them everywhere. The reason why they are called that is because if you open the front and back doors, you can shoot your shotgun out the back door from standing in the front entryway!

Thats when Elvis got black friends and first heard black folks sing the blues. They moved to Memphis when he was 13, where they lived in housing projects.

It has been brought up in other interviews and news articles about Elvis seeing young girls, the response is typically, that back in that era it wasn't unheard of for men to date young girls. Yet, his parents were concerned that he did, for legal reasons. Even Elvis mentioned in interviews that he had to be careful because it was against the law. So, which was it, accepted back then or against the law? Date them or marry young girls? The girls parents were wrong to allow. Elvis was wrong because it was unlawful. If he had to hide it, he knew it was immoral. Being Elvis didn't make it right. But I do respect him for not having intercourse with them.

actually, in the south, it was not uncommon for 14-15 year old girls to marry and parents would give their consent. Especially the poor and uneducated. On top of that, the evangelical church preachers would encourage it. I guess it was a convoluted way of preventing out of wedlock pregnancies. I believe Elvis' parents were married at about age 16 or 17. I read Elvis' bio and I was surprised at how when he was in school, he had a little girlfriend, probably about 14 years old and she was part of the family and it was taken for granted by his parents that this girl would be his wife when they graduated high school. Elvis' mother was teaching her how to cook all of Elvis' favorite dishes etc etc... so she would make a good wife for Elvis. and that is how it was.

People are far too hung up on numbers now. Back then people dating who were between 15-21yrs old was totally normal. I'm 50 & remember all the pretty girls in my freshman & sophomore (14-16yrs old) high school classes were dating seniors or guys who'd recently graduated(19-21). Everyone nowadays tries to act like how things are now is how they've always been or should've been & that's just ridiculous. A hundred or two hundred years ago people didn't live nearly as long so getting married & starting a family when you were 14-17 was normal. Most people didn't even graduate or go to high school back then. Society needs to quit looking back in history & trying to judge people from hundreds of years ago with today's morals, it doesn't work & presents a false dichotomy

Getting married back then was indeed different. But a 15yo girl marrying an 18-20yo man from the same neighborhood arranged by both sets of parents is a VERY DIFFERENT situation than a worldwide celebrity coming in fly by night and specifically preying on a revolving door of 14yo girls from town to town. It’s got that element of R Kelly sickness to it.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate: looking at this from an archeological or sociological standpoint, waaaaay back before there were laws for minimum age, etc., when left to their own devices; it was very common for an older man to take a very young bride. Research shows women are at the height of fertility by age 15. A young woman looking for a mate would be more drawn to a man who had more life experience, earning potential, maturity (which comes later for men), & basically a man who she could depend on to care for and support a family. When you look at the animal kingdom, females have criteria in choosing a mate, and age isn’t the primary factor. So maybe this is how we’re genetically programmed, but for most people they don’t consciously acknowledge it as it’s taboo. Just a thought.

It was a different time then. Elvis was a Southern gentleman and treated everyone with respect. Even though he was much older in years he felt more comfortable around younger people. It wasn't just young ladies. He liked hanging out with his stepbrothers who were years younger than Elvis. It may have had something to do with his Momma treating him as her little boy even as he got older. I mean he was so shy and liked so many things that the younger people did. Maybe it made him feel like a teenager again. Precilla once bought him a race car set for Christmas and he loved it. All I know is that I have never heard anyone say that Elvis tried to do anything out of the way with them. I only care about all of the great music he left us with to enjoy. Elvis was a very special person. There will never be anyone like him. God blessed us by giving us Elvis.

I wish EPE did something about all these misleading and trashy documentaries/books/movies that portray Elvis as this ultimate predator who only dated 14 year olds when that wasn’t the case. He dated many women who were of legal age or closer in age to him and I’m tired of the media erasing them.

i remember seeing the tv show Ed Sullivan where Elvis appeared on stage and they only filmed him from the waist up due to his now famous gyrations. [i'm not ancient; they were reruns or documentaries.] the pressure to marry young was very strong. i graduated high school at age 17 and was accepted into a school of nursing. my parents refused to let me go. 'decent' women didnt work; they got married, had babies and kept a home clean. i got married at 18. nineteen yrs, four children and one divorce later i went to nursing school. best thing i ever did for myself and my children.

The ladies interviewed had nothing but nice things to say about Elvis - he didn't cross the line, and, as was brought up by several of the women, that sort of age gap was not unusual in the south at that time. It just takes an ugly press like this Laura Sparks to malign a human being that gave us so much.

Times were different. People thought girls were over the hill within a couple years of 14. My own mom wanted to sign me away to marriages but I refused . People thought that once a girl started her period she was ready to be married and if you didn't marry her off soon enough she might go boy crazy like a dog in heat and end up pregnant.

Girls got married young in the 1960s. I remember one girl from my Girl Scout troop had just finished eighth grade and married an 18 year old sailor. Her mother was all for it. Girls got pregnant in high school and were whisked off to HOMES for unwed mothers all across the U.S. I lived in California it wasn’t an uncommon thing.
