i love to hear his alternate takes, this is how he worked, live in studio until it matched what he wanted in his head. He was a master at how a song should sound and the feelings he put in them. his voice was simply amazing and the cool thing about all this is voice is there will never ever be an Entertainer with the amount and level of longevity that Elvis had. he could change with the times with the best of them. For example if you listen to Elvis His voice in the fifties then through the sixties and also through the seventies his voice evolved that's the best way I can describe it in my opinion.

How i love this version...you can simply feel all the emotions in his beautiful voice, the love, the sadness ,the pain & denial then the anger...or it is just me? But it is simply there..no denying it...the first time i heard it, which is very recent i cried and cried.. It is my song for my beautiful husband, it is so apt for what we have recently experienced, he left me but promised that he will be waiting for me and he will not forget my name ever, even if he will be "in the other side".. The undubbed versions and studio alt takes are always better than the mastered versions. They put too much background vocals and strings on the master versions for my taste. Elvis has to be stripped down to get the full effect. Nothing but drums, bass and Elvis' voice. That's purity, that's perfection.
