This movie is called "King Creole," and Elvis plays a local singer in New Orleans who gets tangled up with the mob boss played by Walter Matthau; the movie was originally written for James Dean before his car accident and after they rewrote it for Elvis. I'm sure that was a huge deal for Elvis because James Dean was his idol. It's directed by the man who directed Casablanca, one of the greatest films of all time. Elvis was a great actor that never got the chance to truly showcase his talent or ever get taken seriously by Hollywood because the studio always gave him characters that sing.

"Trouble" is a blues song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, originally performed by Elvis Presley in 1958. It was covered by a number of other artists since then. Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller were an enormously successful songwriting duo and produced scores of hit songs. They have both been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Elvis sang many of their songs including "Jailhouse Rock".

"Has anybody watched this movie in its entirety?" Only about 100 million people about 100 million times! LOL! Seriously though, great reaction! This is an absolute MUST movie to watch, either as a reaction or on your own (with a big bag of popcorn)! It was Elvis' fourth movie (1958) and the last one he did before going into the Army for two years (1958-60). In fact, his manager had to get a "special delay" permission from the Army for him to complete the movie before shipping off to Fort Hood for basic. After being in Germany two years, he came back, did a "Welcome Home, Elvis" special produced by Frank Sinatra, and resumed his movie career for several more years. Out of all the 31 movies he did, "King Creole" was Elvis' personal favorite. Before this one, he starred in "Love Me Tender" (1956), "Loving You" (1957), and "Jailhouse Rock" (1957). Throughout most of the 1960's, he was arguably the highest paid actor in Hollywood!

His 1st movie was titled Love Me Tender, in 1956. It was set in the Civil War and Elvis it was the only one of his 31 movies where he did not get Star billing. He only sang about 3 songs, and teens were disappointed by that. So from then on most all his movies had more Elvis singing. In this his 4th movie, which Elvis and many fans considered his best acting roll and the best plot he filmed in 1958 right before his Army duty. Despite Elvis in a post Army press conference, saying his #1 goal was acting his manager ignored his wishes and negotiated movie deals with increasingly silly plots, less good songs and quick production time. Elvis did no concerts after 1960 and no TV appearances until his 1968 Comeback Special, which demonstrated he was better than ever and still sexy as heck.

This is one of his best movies and has many great songs. You should react to "Crawfish", "New Orleans", "King Creole", "Young Dreams", "Lover Doll" and more. He was really a good actor, but the Colonel put him in some cheesy movies, which he hated. There are some excellent songs throughout his movie career, and some real "meh" ones. Thanks for this reaction. I love your interest and appreciation of the King. He was incomparable. ❤❤❤

I’ve watched this movie many, many times. I think it’s his best movie. Great acting and, of course, singing. My favorite song is Young Dreams. Really, the entire movie is great. I think it’s a classic. The songs were written specifically for the movie, to fit the story.

There were certain songs he did to fit in the movies he did! Sometimes there are picked out just before the movie was made. Some were worked on during ....some after....depended on what Elvis thought would fit.

The movie is “King Creole”. Walter Matthau is a mob boss who owns the club, abuses everyone around him, and has a special hate for Elvis. It’s definitely worth watching. I think Elvis got the role after James Dean was killed, and it was his favorite of all the movies he made. “Jailhouse Rock” is good too, but not as serious.

One thing I like about Elvis is, He can go from one extreme to the other. He's got so many characters to his Music career. His dance moves are very versatile as well. The kind of man he was was equally as good as his career. And that's saying something.

In every single movie he made he always was the STAR ⭐️! He made 31 movies counting televised live concerts. He couldn’t do his live performances until his movie contracts were completed by 1969. I have seen him live in concert in 1976 when I was 15. I’ve been to Graceland 7 times from 1991-1999. I’d like to go again before I leave this world.

King Creole was Elvis' fourth and best film.....He should have gotten an Oscar nomination (at least) for it. It is a real classic and now also in colour ‼️😅 Movie name was made from:" A Stone for Danny Fisher". ( James Dean should have performed here...without the songs ofcourse 😉) Michael Curtiz (Casablanca) directed it... Doloris Hart (Co-star, became A NUN after being the first actress who kissed Elvis on screen 🤭😄)

That was fun. The earlier ones were pretty good in this is a very good one. But then his asshole manager locked him into a contract, and that's the meaning of his 1968 Comeback Special is that he finally broken that contract Arrangement where Colonel Parker was just cranking out once shity movie after the other and milking every last dollar out of Elvis and Elvis was miserable. Once he got out of the contract, Elvis could finally returned to live performing any took off with a bang all over again even though several years had elapsed.

We’re you even in the entertainment business then? I was. Every other entertainer would have given their right arm to have Tom Parker manage them. Elvis was the highest paid actor in Hollywood for years, because of his manager. Don’t believe the revisionist history that is being told about Elvis & The Colonel nowadays. Most of it is a complete bunch of lies.

Elvis was basically a singer. He became an actor by chance although he proved to be a good actor. Most of his films are all musicals. All his film songs have two version one is a original studio version which plays to the maximum and the film version is short. Apart from films he recorded several singles and albums.

I love your Elvis reactions and I like you as a person. I can`t watch reactions if people don`t resonate with me. Just saying. WATCH King Creole! I think you`ll like it. It`s a good movie with a good storyline. It shows that Elvis was a natural. He was a good actor, and given the chance, he could have been one of the best, but his manager just wanted quick and easy money. Cheap scripts, cheap co-actors, cheap settings, cheap songwriters. At least he got to play with some good actors but there weren`t many of them. Elvis took his acting very seriously and on set, he always appeared prepared and ready. Considering how little Elvis was given to work with, he made the best of it. King Creole and Flaming Star are my favorites of all 31 Elvis movies. Of course, I love to watch him in the other movies, too, but maybe that`s because I`m an Elvis fan :) After all these years, I really don`t know anymore. All I know is that in the '60s a lot of bad movies were produced, but Elvis got criticized and slapped for all of them. Thank you for all your respectful Elvis reactions.

Elvis started using drugs in the army back in 1958. Check this out In 1970 Elvis writes to President Nixon (the I am not a crook guy) and offers his services to help combat illicit drug use in the USA. Elvis mentioned that he knew a lot about drugs and was accepted by the hippies. He said he could go right into a group of young people or hippies and be accepted which he felt could be helpful to him in his drug drive. Nixon and Elvis exchanged pleasantries and agreed that “those who use drugs are in the vanguard of American protest.” In 1977 Elvis dies of drug overdose and drug abuse. Putting Elvis in charge of speaking on narcotic abuse is like leaving Dracula in charge of the blood bank. Hypocrisy: What is an example of hypocrisy? People who tell you not to eat candy while they chomp away on candy all day.
