On his deathbed .. flooded with inflammation of his colon and heart, total agony and sweat dripping after hours of performance in a weakened state, his organs literally failing him onstage .. and gives such a top career performance as this on a song like this it’s drop-dead incredible. Gobs of God-given talent who kept getting better and better, even as he was about to meet his maker...

Great to hear your appreciation for how Elvis 'pushed his vocal capability.' He didn't just have a great voice, he poured out his soul filling his singing with emotion, using incredible vocal dynamics and skillfully adding texture & color to the tones. I believe the sort of silly talking was teasing his audience and giving himself time to get ready to give his all to the performance.

This was the last tour, not the last concert. He had 5 more to go and they were solid. Too many rumors. This TV Special was signed June 1st giving him 16 days to prepare. Regardless of what the 'movie' depicts, there's much more to this that the public still doesn't know. Yes he was sick. Predominantly from congenital health issues that worsened, NOT drugs (media.) He looked way heavier because of fluid retention. You gotta know this was another full length concert night after night. Whether it's 1956 or 1977, this Phenom could go toe to toe with anyone. If only people knew the actual facts, there's A LOT and not the bullshit that's been drip fed over the years and now adding to this is the biopic geared at generations who know next to nothing about these things. Btw, Elvis always got nervous when he had to speak or do something different, especially here with the cameras on him knowing he was under so much pressure. Watch the entire concert from this night UN particular and you'll see it's the same Elvis that dominated alive and still continues to decades after his passing. There comes a point where everyone has no choice but to acknowledge there's a reason this dude still remains at the top. It's scary when you think about it. PEACE!

His breathlessness at the beginning of this clip could have something to do with the 2 songs just prior to Unchained Melody. Immediately prior he sang Hound Dog, a very uptempo song. Just before that he sang the super powerful ballad Hurt, requiring amazing breath control for big sustained notes. So, he was just getting his breath back at the beginning of this.

People (45 years after he's gone) still call Elvis King of Rock'n roll, but he did not like that, he considerd that the only King was God, but I consider him to be the King of Music, but what do you think, is he good enough to be called a Music King? Here are some of his Gospel songs: Amazing Graze, Take me home precisous Lord, How great though art, You'll never walk alone, You gave me a mountin, Crying in the chapel, Why me Lord (written by Kris Kristofferson), Unchained melody, I'm not sure if it's a gospel song but Walk a mile in my shoes and many more... . If you prefer ballad songs then look at these: My Way, Suspicius minds, In the Ghetto, Memories, If I can dream that is a tribute (parts of it is taken directly from the I can dream speach by MLK) to Martin Luther King JR and Robert Kennedy, Walk a mile in my shoes, Make The World Go Away, Bridge Over Troubled Water, An American Thrillergy, Hurt, Sweet Caroline, Just Pretend, What now my love, Are you lonesome tonight (laughing versin, or not), Oh Danny Boy (for you Irish people), remember that he sang over 700 songs... There are some videos of when Elvis joking and messing up, he loved to joke around and pretend that he did not have control, but he had total control, he acctually conducted his musicans and back up choirs all the time !! He is the only person to have 2 records gone to sell Gold and 2 to to sell Platinum since he died. Elvis is also in almost every genre of Music Hall of Fame (5 that I'm sure of), no one else is in more then perhaps 2. Not to bad for someone that did not have any singing lessons ever, right? . Something else that people tend to overlook: He always conducts his musicans and backup singers, he never gets credit for being able to do that... Then imagen you are a singer, you have great musicans, you have great backup singers, no Guest Artists, no Autotune, no Lipsink and no Fireworks, now all is about your skill, could you handle that pressure? That is what Elvis did in over 1000 concerts, despite having problems with his health, like his Glaucoma, the headlights must have hurt his eyes like crazy... He sang over 700 songs, I wonder how he could remember them all, he never vrote a song himself, so he had to remember other peoples songs, well that in it self is amazing in it self... By the way he had Glucomea and that must have been difficult being in the headlights all the time, that could be why he sometimes closes his eyes, but also sometimes squinting !! Elvis suits was made of 100% Polyester, or 100 cotton (I'm not sure witch one), it was originally a karate suit, it was very light, but it was hot, so it made him sweat a lot, he got some bad press about that, but if you give it all then you will sweat, it should be positive, right?

Be aware that amongst all the health issues Elvis had, he also had a lung condition similar to asthma for which he used an inhaler but no one seems to mention this when referring to his health problems ( there is film footage of him using one right before going onstage for a concert) -- so how he managed this song w-his serious problems is unbelievable. And remember that standing under super hot spotlights night after night, year after year w-painful Glaucoma couldn't have been much fun. Thank you very much.
