Hi Trey, I had heard of this incident years ago but never knew that Ed Hopper the gas attendant, pulled a knife on Elvis thank goodness that Elvis decked him he deserved it!! Ed Hooper should be ashamed of himself for doing that. Take Care

. .📚 I read a lot of EP’s early Memphis history, back to when the family lived at Lauderdale Court and how there was another family there of boys, namely two brothers who will remain unnamed here, they’d become unwholesomely envious of EP after he had reached a level of fame during the mid to late ‘50’s, spreading indecent rumors on his name for years but basically for being green with envy themselves➖ . . ✨I imagine there were plenty of Memphis locals, fair to say older boys and men, who could not wrap their heads around EP’s talent or their own lack of talent and skill sets, who were left to remain confounded by their own petty emotions over EP and one of those men could’ve very well been a gas station guy . . EP is the man who every man wanted to be like and every woman wanted to be with (200 females feeling compelled to bail him out says it’s so . .) ❤

The gas station attendant put his hands on Elvis first, so, clearly he was looking for a fight and he got one...Elvis, like anyone else, had a right to defend himself. Elvis couldn't move the car as fast as this jerk wanted him to without running somebody over. That was a well deserved black eye that the attendant got from Elvis. Lol !

He was fired and the gas station lost a lot of service.. I have an article where the owner visits Elvis at Audubon and apologized personally to him and said the business was suffering because of the event.
