"I believe that Elvis' marriage to her failed simply because he realized after the wedding that he didn't really want to be married." Vernon Presley, 1978
@elvis78ale11 күн бұрын
And he was his father....go figure if he didn't know the truth. Only a stupid today can go on with that fairytale he was excited about getting married, at least in that moment or with that girl. Also Kathy Westmoreland said that in a conversation she had with Elvis later, he admitted that the day after the wedding he realized his mistake and thought " What have I done???!!" Unfortunately, he built his own trap the day he let her come to Graceland.

You are so right about his voice, Danny. His rendition of "How Great Thou Art" was and is the most beautiful I have ever heard!!
@Wildlife_SA.12 күн бұрын
Elvis' rendition of How Great Thou Art at that 1977 concert, is close to majestic. And he changed the lyrics to: "Oh Lord, how Great I think you are..." he made it personal, singing to his Creator. Elvis loved the Lord, and the fact he never mocked God, that's what made me a life long fan, and many others I know in my Country. 💖🙏✝️⚡🥇🎶🇿🇦

"Regarding the wedding, I didn't want to see that wedding happen and neither did he. Five minutes before the ceremony he told me he didn't want to go thru with it and I told him it was too late unless he wanted to leave her at the alter - which would have resulted in her father suing him for breach of promise as he threatened to do if he didn't marry her. I have always known that all Priscilla wanted was the name and money. Needless to say, I wasn't thrilled to be standing there however I was honored that he asked me to be 'Best Man' and then added Joe months later at the urging of Parker and Priscilla." Marty Lacker

I can’t watch his last show. It upsets me so much seeing him that way. I wish he never did that show because I hate remembering him that way. I’m glad I never went to his funeral either because seeing him laying there like that would have been forever burned into my memory. That’s just not the way I want to remember him, I want to remember him happy and at his best, knocking them dead. In his prime, Presley was the most gorgeous man that ever lived. No one comes close and I still think he’s the best singer/entertainer, he could sing any genre of music. His voice was so diverse, so magical what he could do with it. My parents went to his shows. I was born in 76 so I was just a year old when he passed. I grew up hearing his records, went to Graceland and I’ve been a lifelong fan. He’s STILL the best. What other celebrity has fans flocking to his home 47 years after his death? Like I said, Elvis was magical, so special for so many reasons. You’re so lucky, Danny, to have known and lived with him. What precious memories you must hold dear and close to your heart.

The book, Down at the End of Lonely Street: The Life and Death of Elvis Presley by Peter Harry Brown and Pat H. Broeske, it was Alberta that found Elvis crying over the upcoming wedding in 1967. Trying to comfort him, she asked her young superstar why he wouldn't simply call off the wedding if it was making him this unhappy. To Alberta, Elvis simply replied: "I don't have a choice..."

I didn't even know who was there, we were in side that little room about the size of a bathroom with a supreme court justice. It was in there and over and done with so quick I didn't even realize that I was married." Elvis Presley, 1976
@Patracat11 күн бұрын
I often wondered about that. He said the words of the ceremony, he kissed priscilla several times (and he looked like he loved her, even if she didn't look like she loved anyone except herself😮) and they had the wedding breakfast and press conference afterwards. Then they were shown walking to the plane, holding hands. My guess is that he had mixed feelings about being married. In early days he often said he didn't want to be alone, he wanted to be married and have children, that he was an only child but didn't want his to be. If he had no intentions ever about marrying priscilla, why on earth did he keep her at Graceland all those years? He said in one interview he was waiting until the time was right and she was old enough. Maybe as time went on and he met so many other women, some more mature than priscilla, he realised that she wasn't going to be right for him in the long term, but just felt bad about leading her on all those years...

@@PatracatI honestly think he hoped she would leave as all the others before and after her did. But she didn't. We now know he didnt like confrontation and so he was stuck, with her, with the Colonel, some so called friends... Don't remember who of the MM guys said he got bored of her just a few weeks after she arrived to Graceland and I believe that 100%. But he made a promised so.. I was sixteen when Elvis died and what Danny said about watching the '77 special when it first came on and then much later...how your feelings sort of changed about seeing it. I feel like that about his From E.P. Bl., Memphis, TN. album from 1976. When I bought it in 1976, I loved the songs. But years later, when I listened to it, (I still loved the songs), it just hit me differently at how the songs were so sad. Sigh. I hope you two have a great New Year's Eve. Keep up the bickering! 😆

Perspective changes over the years because of experiences. I was 3 years old in 1982 when I first heard Elvis in Concert. All the way into my teenage years it felt like a big event. As I got older and experienced things a lot of tragic events I started to understand Elvis in his later years and it was no longer just an event to hear his later stuff but it was life's blueprint so to speak.

Y’all are so kind and a real class act. You don’t feed the trolls that are very brave behind the screen in a keyboard. I don’t think Elvis wanted marriage either. If I had to say, I don’t no anything, but he seemed to always love Ann Margaret and he stayed with Linda for a year without getting restless so I think he had stronger or just as strong of love with those ladies as he had with Pricilla. Can I make a small suggestion that you keep your hand off of the top of the cane because it often covers your face

Danny and Teresa. I'm glad you guys had a good Christmas, except for the crud that you got. I do have a (QUESTION).. You might not see it, since I missed this yesterday though.. This could only be an opinion, which is ok with me.. I'm wondering, if you think Elvis would have been touring into his late 60's and 70's the way Rod Stewart, and Tom Jones and others have done? I think he would have retired long before that, because he didn't want to be remembered as an old rock n roll singer.. I might be wrong. But I just don't think he would have wanted to tour as an older man.. If you see my question, that's great.. If not, that's fine too.. If I miss your next video (I am going to be looking for it), Happy New Year. I hope 2025 will be better for everyone. 💜
