The analog heft and image in the hardware is good for mastering or 2 buss but I feel the clarity and minimal analog weight of the plugin is great for mixing.

The plugin sounds flat and lacks depth while the hardware is way more transparent and has more vibe. The high shelf on the hardware is super clean too. Great video btw

Great Video! Hardware is tighter and punchier for sure, top and bottom! Transients on the software sort of disappear or as some might say get a bit smeared.

Hi everybody, thanks to Peter SG for taking the time out for the peoples. Iv'e been struggling over the weekend on whether or not to purchase this MusEQ hardware, though the deal price iv'e been offered is very tempting, after listening to most of demos here on YT, and I downloaded Elysia demos from there website, I'm just not convinced still that this is the mastering magic i'm looking for. I would certainly like to hear some different genres of music run through this unit.

If the screen is hidden? I have to be honest say... I can feel the difference when I look at the screen. If I leave the screen, I‘m not sure can guess right... But most people will not listen to music so much attentively.

It’s night and day to me. The hardware has more weight and depth. The plug-in does a decent job but sounds flatter and more smeared by comparison
@duguy1823 жыл бұрын
I prefer the plugin. The low end is rumbly on the hardware.

I think A/B analog vs Digital we do this way is totally wrong, unless we do ITB (nothing but ITB computer with internal audio card) then one with hybrid (converter + analog insert )
@duguy1823 жыл бұрын
You will always have a conversion with analog gear anyway.

@@duguy182 but of course my friend lol here I tried to speak about real comparison dig. vs analog btw I’m comparing those 2 everyday btw and in my ears analog is always winning BUT I wish digital to be on the same level as it’s cheaper, everything recallable etc... sadly not yet not yet 🤔

@@EDDuro Here to me digital sounds better, the hardware has a weird bass boost imo.

@@duguy182 well now lol ok, I enjoy this chat and especially about Museq by Elysia I think it’s a ...sin... to use any compression after their magical frequencies (this is my opinion in general not about this here particular example we hear) I am huge MusEQ lover! 😜

Both sounds good but the analog sounds definitely better compared to the digital, digital sounds "opaque" with no power flat , way more definition in the analog, how you routed this setup? did you sent the plugin version out of the converter and printed back ?
@petersgmastering71203 жыл бұрын
yes both was printed via converter

I actually preferred the plugin! Transients sound better to me. Listen to the snare.
@petersgmastering71203 жыл бұрын
I would suggest better monitoring , plugin sounds complelty flat , lifeless ;)
@DalleyMusic3 жыл бұрын
@@petersgmastering7120 I disagree. Try listening to it with your eyes closed or not looking at the screen to see which one is playing. The difference I find is negligible.

@@petersgmastering7120 plugin sounds flat and just "on highs", hardware have more smooth highs and more body and 3d on the lower region
@rameron93 жыл бұрын
@@DalleyMusic listening to the snare, you think plugin is better in the transient because there are just more highs, but if you listen well, it looses the body. and those "negligible" differences are not so negligible at all in a mastering situation, small differences are lot, specially adding more pieces. Is a cumulative situation. On plugins (not all) you are cumulating flatness, highs, and in many cases aliasing.. on hardware you will adds smoothness, dimension, body and movement. cheers!

Im listening on some pretty decent headphones and difference is far bigger than I was expecting. Hardware sounds fuller, A LOT on the low end, and not so harsh on highs, its a lot smoother than plugin, which sounds fine. Damn, was expectating not to be so different cause now I want the hardware and price is a no no lol

Hey I master my own stuff, I have a question. Why dont many mastering engineers use 500 series gear? does rack really sound that much better? Also this EQ is a little out of my budget. what other clean EQ do you recommend around the 2-3k range
@bingybeats1892 жыл бұрын
The power supply changes the sound. They don't use 500 series because mastering is a game of inches. Sacrificing power, sacrifices sound quality. Plus the ergonomics and stepped controls or lack there of is a factor.
