This looks like a very promising design. I would like to see a video of transitioning just to prove there is enough power to do it but I see no reason to doubt it would work.

Agree, I was looking for the same thing, the transition.

I love that this appears to be manually controlled. It does not look like it has transitioned yet from hover, to forward flight, and back to hover; but again it’s nice to see a somewhat manually controlled eVTOL and not some stupid autonomous “air-taxi”.

This seems to be the configuration a lot of eVTOL startups are moving towards. But as usual the most difficult part with this design is the transition from vertical to horizontal flight. Looking forward to seeing that work.

There are a few things I like about this design. It takes the best of canards and solves the worse. Canards can be designed to be stall resistant due to the angle of the front wing (canard). As the nose rises and the aircraft slows toward stall speed, the canard will stall first dropping the nose and increasing air speed avoiding the stall. The down side of canards is because the canard prevents slow nose high flight, the aircraft lands and takes off very level and at high speed. The vertical take off completely avoids that. I also like the vertical rotors, and presumable the batteries, being out away from the fuselage in case of fire. I like that it has wings for forward flight to extent range and speed. The only downside for me is it's a tail dragger. I'd prefer a nose wheel which provides a level stance for vertical take/landing and stable forward flight landings.

Canard does not do well slow speed??? That is not true...there are multiple types of canard-wing combinations...
@KB3M2 жыл бұрын
@@electricaviationchannelvid7863 Yes there are and none are STOL. You can put flaps on the main wing to slow flight but never saw flaps on a canard so the nose will drop preventing nose high flight.

Looking forward to seeing the transition video. Video edits at critical moments are obvious in these so far. Drones tip forward to fly forward..planes tip backward to climb. It will be interesting to see your solution of that...) Very nice so far, btw!!!

Really interesting. I miss a video where I can see the transition phase.

If hover time is only four minutes, you're consuming 1/4 of your total charge for every minute of VTOL? So if it takes 1 minute to transit from vertical to horizontal flight on takeoff and 1 minute again on landing, you've consumed half your power (leaving 45 miles of range)? I wonder how the Kitty Hawk Heaviside compares to this one.
@amazingdiyprojects2 жыл бұрын
They have two separate battery banks. One small-ish high discharge for hover, another high capacity low discharge for the forward flight drive train. After 4 minutes of hover you still have the 144km range battery fully charged.

I have one idea here but dont know if it is aplicable. So, what if on tandem wing airplane, we mount foldable scren beatwin the wings? It would role out just for landing and take of for slow speed and maybe for thermals. For normal flying it would be folded in fusalage for low drag and fast flying. Tandem wing with linked wings would be mehanicly good structure for this purpose.

Besides that it adds a lot of complexity and extra weight, why would you do that? What is the advantage?

Meh. The transition is the entire point of a design like this, eh? That's what people want to see.

A runway should never enter the equation, other than unpowered glide down in case of powerloss. The obvious configuration is 2 tilt wings with motors on them. Not a combination of normal plane and drone, that's clumsy redundancy. 2 tilt wings. Come on, already. It's so obvious and simple.

@DanFrederiksen2 жыл бұрын
@@thengine7 similar yes but no. osprey is clumsy, complex, heavy and doesn't tilt the wings. Tilting the wings instead of the engines gives you control surfaces to have maneuverability a bit like a drone.
