I also wondered why those old virus authors from the late 90s thought that they would get away with those double file extensions and no one would see them. It could only potentially work if the user set it to reveal only the last three characters of the filename. I remember getting a lot of people trying to send them to me through my old yahoo email account back when I was in high school. Probably because my email handle was cryptic

Do you have a video explaining how you typically demo these malware? (or can someone explain how that works to a rookie like me)? I know sometimes you use VMs but it seems you also use original hardware often. How do you recover the original hardware to demo more viruses? And when you run viruses in VM is there absolutely no threat to the PC you’re running the VM on? Love the videos

You can just format the hard drive and reinstall Windows. Same for a virtual machine - no harm to your host unless the virus gains access to a shared folder and executes that way but older viruses generally can't do anything to Windows 10
