@legendarypot8oanimates1604 жыл бұрын
It depends on what craft I'm flying, if I was flying a larger quad, then probably but on something like a whoop I think if you built it you should be able to judge what works for you, but it would be handy if the quad came with one more canopy with a different camera angle to cater to other people's needs. But personally for these I like exploring and mild acro, not speed.

Of course it probably has the sbus, so you can add an xm plus or similar receiver, but do you think it would be worth it to desolder the VTX, and mount the one from the tinyhawk ii higher up behind the camera? That way it's further away from the esc's, hopefully minimizing interference. Plus you then have the ability to turn the VTX up to 100 or even 200 mW, for a stronger signal. Or would you just jump right up to using something like the tiny tank?

Nick, what do you think specifically about the GNB27? Is it better than the BT2.0?
@NickBurnsFPV4 жыл бұрын
I don't think its much better in terms of performance. I do think its better as it is much easier to convert batteries to it, and will likely be available on all sorts of batteries soon, maybe even 2s if the market wants it. BT2.0 typically only comes on betafpv batteries, which are poor performing batteries, one exception is the mylipo/tinywhoop bt2.0 batteries, those perform well. But the cost comparison is rough. Short version, connector is fine, the batteries they come with either cost more than others like it or perform poorly.

Another great review. For me the big question does it replace the Whoop King from last year? In your opinion is it better than the M6. My weight reduced M6 on PMB is really good and cheap. I do like the new frame idea..though.... We need the protection for indoor flying but we don't want the negative flying characteristics we get with yaw washout. Looks like they tried to address both issues. Would you say the frame is as durable as the M6 or Meteor frames. Also with with BF 4.2.x there is some sort of battery sag compensation feature. JB talked about it. Wonder if it would help. IMO it looks like a decent whoop.
@NickBurnsFPV4 жыл бұрын
The prop protection is more flexible than other whoop frames, and will likely be more durable, issue is we will likely go through more props. Also the prop protection is not nearly as "safe" as the traditional style. I expect if we run into skin it could leave a mark or curt.

Love the review. The Nanohawk was purchased using your review and that dude Nurk's review. I knew all of the shortcomings (props and 25mw vtx) but I was intrigued. Being new (first FPV was the GEPRC 4k bundle) and subsequent Happy Model Mob's and Moblite's paired with Zorro and Skyzone 02's, I figured something from 2020 wouldn't be bad. What I love about it: looks different, fly's great in angle mode (no ACRO yet and my brain can't comprehend horizon mode) and I changed nothing on the tune. There was expo on throttle! And for these guys I usually add expo. I would like to scale back the throttle (all of my Happy Models and the single GepRC are scaled to 80%) but it doesn't show up in BF. Side note: all of my Horizon Hobby Helicopters with Spektrum control have no EXPO added or needed really. But all my Futaba controlled helicopters, be it Eachine E180 or XK K130, need 20%-25% expo. Just a preference.) The Moblite7 ( I have 2 ) is still the best, but it is not a 65 mm. Not apples to apples. Mobula6 is good and Moblite6 is better. Maybe because I am more secure with the prop protection for little bumps, I take more chances. First crash in the Nano results: lost prop, but found and not bent, otherwise all good. Do you recommend any other props? Thanks again!
@NickBurnsFPV2 жыл бұрын
The props are actually pretty good but do tend to fly off, mainly due to the flexible prop protection. We can run some dental floss through them to tighten them up a bit. There really isn’t much of a payoff in changing props unless we are a top of the line flyer competing in races. We can try them for fun. Maybe less blades if we want to get a bit more flight time
@ericcoker87842 жыл бұрын
@@NickBurnsFPV yes, the floss trick was employed this morning. I did bend a prop, but instead of trashing, I slowly (kinda) bent it in place. I got lucky.

Another super trick: if the video feed tonyour goggles seem notchy, check the motor mount screws. All of mine were NOT snug and the frame mount to the canopy was a touch loose. Used a smaller Philip Head screwdriver to snug them up. Worked perfect again. This falls under maintenance, but my Mobula6 or Moblite fleet don't seem prone to this.

We appreciate your knowledge and experience! Was attempting to bind to the spi receiver in d8, with the emax stock (e6) radio, which is d8 by default. Thanks Nick, another excellent review. Although in my experience Emax VTX has been a very good performer at 25mw I'm now leaning toward at least 100mw in the small whoops. Probably not for everyone but I love to sit at the dining room table and fly inside a bit and then zoom out the open door and all around the house and a short distance away so to me it's very well worth a couple extra bucks for a stronger VTX and with that I always order with or install Crossfire and end the worries. Best of both flying experiences in one sitting and a helluva hoot. Hoping at some point there will soon be these choices with some of the great newer whoops coming out. Since I virtually never fly only indoors (certainly couldn't keep up with you anyway) 25mw is becoming a deal breaker for me even if I really like the quad.

I was surprised at the 25mw, I figured they would use the new more powerful vtx they have.

I just don't like the new battery cable. I kinda like the BT 2.0 but these companies are changing things to be proprietary and that's what I don't like. The frame seems a little flimsy too and I don't see a whole bunch of protection going on. I'm bummed because I had high hopes for this one. Thanks for the review and the indoor flight, I absolutely love them. Also thanks for explaining your battery voltage when landing. Makes perfect sense and that's what I love about you. Hey Nick, it’s Babak! Hope you had a great thanksgiving! Would you take this over the Meteor 65?
@NickBurnsFPV4 жыл бұрын
Hey Babak, good to hear from you!. I trust your thanksgiving was a safe and fulfilling time? I would only select it for outside flight. While the flight feel is more quad native, the flexible prop protection means we will go through a lot of props and could cause more damage than traditional whoop frame. I am thinking of if we run into someone, they are going to feel the prop and maybe have a cut. So outside its cool, probably loads of fun at a small park with tube slides and climbing things.

Not as blown away as I was from the TH freestyle, especially the flight time is meh. Looks nice though. Camera angle is definitely important if you plan to fly outside, for inside flying I usually don't use much. I'm not Nick, but my wife runs marathons and we live somewhere it gets ridiculously cold, and it sees use in colder months. I also use it when I'm short on steps for the day, will watch streaming stuff while walking on it. However it does have an added benefit as it's one of the more fun things to fly around with a whoop, second to a power cage for workout equipment that's fun to fly around
