I am eritrean. This song is one of my favourite (the second is a song about a mother by Eyasu) weyane song. I remember watching abebe playing live in Rome during 90s. The people inside the hall were mostly Eritreans and they pouring the singer with reward (money and gold). Now some of them are attacking him because he is still "weyane" how time has changed.
