Ember won’t charge work-around

Thank you! My Ember mug hasn't charged in over a month. I ordered a new coaster (49.95 now) but while waiting for delivery I came across your KZbin video. Followed your instructions and finally got my mug to recharge. Again, thank you for this information.

Thanks. Discovered same issue with the saucer. Tried tweezers. Didn’t think about turning it upside down. Will try this work around and write the company.

Had pull it with carefully pliers but it came up. Thanks. Solved my problem. Unplug the saucer first.

Thanks for the tip! I have the black version of the original ember mug and a similar thing happened to me after 7ish months of ownership. Contacted ember and they just shipped me a revised version of the ember charging coaster. I hope they have solved this issue with the latest version. This trick sure helps until it arrives though. Thanks again 👌🏼

The cup itself has a little plastic cushion at the bottom, this is the reason the pins need to stick out. You can also remove that cushion (I guess it can be glued back later if you fix the coaster). Once the cushion is removed, it doesn't matter if the pin is depressed because it will still be touching. However, you have to be careful later to not place the cup in a metal surface or liquid (or it will short).

I just did this and it charges great now! ...I think the shorting problem won't be an issue if you just make sure the mug is completely off before hand washing - but yes, make sure your surface is liquid free when you place the mug down on a desk/table.

Thank you! I added few drops of an electric contact cleaner while keep pressing and releasing the sticky pin.

Thanks! My pin was a bit stuck as well, but when I pressed the mug down it charged. I tapped the plate like you did and now it seems to charge without needing to press down the mug.

I know someone mentioned removing the rubber ring on the bottom of the mug, but a simpler way is to take a sharp knife and shave the ring down. Worked for me!

Great idea. Again, Ember had replace three broken parts for me.

I would suggest using a reasonable amount of alcohol on a a q tip and working it in as you may have dripped coffee residue aside the pins.

Thanks for this! I keep having issues with my ember mug - they have already sent me a replacement coaster but 6 months later the same thing happened again. I hope they redesign the charging portion of this at some point.

Just write Ember. They’ll send you a replacement pad. They just ask for picture of the pad. They also ask for serial number under the pad. I took a picture of that too. It was too small to read. Ember sent replacement pad within a few days.

I tried that too, but the pin won’t stay up…mine’s not stuck down. I did shave rubbery ring for better contact in the low position, so that has helped.
