EMBL’s Advanced Mobile Laboratory arrives at Stazione Zoologica in Naples

Traversing European Coastlines (TREC) is a large-scale expedition that studies organisms and ecosystems at the places where the two major ecosystems - land and sea - meet along the entire European coastline.
TREC is the first continent-wide project to study coastal ecosystems and their response to the environment, on scales from molecules to communities. Led by the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) together with the Tara Ocean Foundation, the Tara OceanS Consortium, and the European Marine Biology Resource Centre (EMBRC), TREC also involves many national research institutes.
The video shows the arrival of EMBL TREC’s Advanced Mobile Laboratory at Stazione Zoologica in Naples in April 2024. The Advanced Mobile Laboratory is a sophisticated laboratory on wheels, which brings cutting-edge technologies to sites around the European coastline to help researchers study ‘life in context’.
