I am now convinced (after 45 years of playing/listening to guitar) Ed Bickert was the greatest guitarist to ever walk the planet. It's not even close. Thank you François !

This transcription is based on this performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n32ven2deNqMgZY It's a rare solo performance from Ed Bickert, at least, a rare one that has been recorded. Otherwise, his playing is very similar to when he is playing with combos but with the addition of bass notes, Have fun!

Thank you, for this wonderful transcription! I'm "jusplainmark" (the poster of the video), from just outside Memphis, TN. I can't remember exactly where I ran into this interview, but it's stayed up- no one has requested it to be taken down. There are just so few videos of Ed out there. I love many, many guitarists, of all styles- but Ed has always stood out to me as superbly different. Your transcriptions are inspiring! How about a Joe Pass transcription, from the "Portraits of Duke Ellington" album of 1975? It was the first real jazz guitar album I had. The slow tunes are sublime. Look at "Sophisticated Lady" or "In My Solitude". Thanks, again! Also- do more Bickert!!

Have you ever considered a transcription of Ed doing "September Song" from the "Portraits in Jazz/Wes Montgomery" Tribute CD. I do love the way he does that tune.

Killer pick! I have my next Ed Bickert tune. Thanks for suggesting!

He doesn’t sound like anyone else. There are common voicings that Wes and Joe and so many of the others used. I don’t think he uses any of em. He just invented his own language

Hi Francois, Fantastic and very clear transcriptions. Do you use guitar pro? Thanks.

Yes I am using guitar pro... for better or for worse. I get a great look for my transcriptions but I have to deal with all kinds of bugs, like freezing and loosing hours of work. It's a love/hate relationship!

François Leduc thanks for your reply, that’s really helpful to know. I’ve been doing some transcribing but using Sibelius, but it just doesn’t look very nice. All the best.
