I have watched this entire series and I'm extremely appreciative of it. Like Sh. Abdullah, I am an American of Nigerian origin and I grew up with a Nigerian Muslim father and American Christian mother. My background is very similar to Abdullah's. So I can identify and understand many of his positions on what he has shared with us in this series of videos. When it comes to cultural customs, we Nigeria's especially the Yorùbás for which I am one are very proud of our culture no matter what religion we may practice. One half of our ethnic group is Christian the other half is Muslim and ALL of us respect our shared traditional culture. It is what makes us Yorùbá. This is not an uncommon thing amongst West Africans in general. To provide perspective, it is not uncommon for a Yorùbá who is Muslim to have family members who are Christian and even some who still practice traditional spiritual beliefs. The reverse is true for Yorùbás who are Christians having Muslim relatives. What ties us all together is our deep and profound belief in GOD. This is something non-Yorùbás no matter their beliefs may not understand. Yorùbás who're Christians or Muslims do not fight with one another, in the same way, some of our Hausa and Fulani neighbours in Northern Nigeria may fight about religious belief. Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, has allowed us to have this balance and it works. I'm happy to see that Abdullah has found his balance with his family, his Ghanian culture and Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala. Maa sha'Allah 🤲🏿📿🤲🏿

Thank you for sharing your story. It would be great if you shared more stories as such! I, along with most west African Muslims really felt the struggles between balancing your religion with culture. I am 17 and our stories are much similar. InshAllah I learn Arabic as you did. You are a very inspirational man.

Subhanallah your story was amazing. You have used all means and opportunity to learn Islam. May Allah bless you abundantly. Your story inspired me to learn more bout Islam even though I was born as Muslim. But becoming a Islamic scholar is hard here in India, and also as a woman. But will search my way to learn Islam and teach it to others. If possible advise as how to become a Islamic scholar easily from our homeland. Jazakllahukhair
