Always thankful for Jay Kim! He always went out of his way to pour into us college students and baby worship leaders who needed a kind and steady leader who loved the Lord. He was just that for me in a very formative time. God used him greatly to shape my faith and I’ll be grateful forever. 😊

I would like to highlight that for many people like myself who have disabilities that don't facilitate being able to attend in person live stream services give me set routine that I get up and "go" to church with the church despite not leaving my home. I never hear these necessary conversations ever mention people with disabilities. That routine is foundational for me along with access to some of the best biblical teaching.

No one was streaming church service live online until the pandemic forced shutdowns. That is live service was the solution to not able to meet in person as a body. You have to look at every situation by figuring out the core problem and then work on finding a solution to address that problem. Embracing new technologies are more like adapting as our world evolves and presents different problems. Using them to advance God’s purposes should be our primary goal. Technology belongs to God’s, it’s His and so the key is how to harness it under the conviction, and guidance of the Holy Spirit to accomplish why He gave it to us in the first place.

Dang, not a single Ellul quote? 75 years ago - he wrote this in the ‘Presence in the Modern World’ (originally in French) “Institutional reforms must come out of the church’s faith and not from the technical competence of specialists, whether Christian or otherwise.” “In a civilization that no longer knows what life is, the most useful thing that Christians can do is precisely to live, and the life held in faith has a remarkably explosive power.”

I have spent many years in a secular setting, supporting people who have poor mental health and/or are substance dependent. The greatest change happens when they find wholesome community. I'm convinced that real face to face community is essential for spiritual health too.

I have a question brand building is 29:00 couldn’t denominationalism and denominations be used in this same fashion? Isn’t a denomination the same as brand? I know it’s not exactly the same idea but isn’t the danger the same? What brand of church do you go to? Is Christ divided?

Of all of the "Good Faith" debates that TGC has hosted, this one may have been the most divorced from anything distinctively Christian by both sides. If a couple of secular family advice columnists had this same discussion hosted by Oprah, how would it have been any different?

I think that’s a pretty unfair assessment. They spend a good bit of time talking about how to disciple. Why does it matter that it intersects with the secular? Those inside and outside of the church are made in the image of God. It’s no surprise that some of the struggles found in the world intersect with struggles in church.
