I could relate. Hearing my chindian mother's story was heartbreaking. The struggles she went through for being multiracial was painful. Now living in a new generation being half chindian and half malay makes me feel blessed and grateful where the society is able to accept people from different backgrounds. Thanks for sharing this story. Made me feel welcomed.:)

Him being mixed race makes him special huh what sia ¿ Before anyone comes for me it’s the way he phrased his initial assertion about how people desire to be special in their lives and he’s lucky he’s “born that way” like being mixed race defaults the experience of being special so superficial leh. You can be proud of your race and appreciate your identity without thinking it’s superior or that this arbitrary circumstance suddenly give u special qualities. It’s precisely because ppl think some races are more “special” than others that cause ppl who are different to be alienated and ostracised, just further perpetuates the problem that you’re trying to get away from.

good point brought up. didn't even occur to me lol. while you're right, i personally feel it's beneficial to give room for authentic expression of our actual truths. if we're honest, all of us have insecurities, doubts, fears, knowledge gaps. and that's where bias, racism or whatever other -ism comes in. all of us want to be accepted, to feel special, to have something that makes us uniquely us. unfortunately nobody is perfect. so while i defo can feel where you're coming from i'm still grateful that he felt safe enough to share that. the problem with society now is when people feel they have to clam up about their actual thoughts and feelings because oh crap someone is gonna come after me ima get cancelled. it's only through dialogue and journey that we can find understanding and empathy for people different to us and our circumstances. the real kicker for me is the spirit with which things are said. if people are genuine and vulnerable about growing in understanding, beautiful things will happen. nowadays a lot of people just sound butthurt and that really gets in the way of any kind of progress. i'd like to add to the well known quote that "truth will set you free". I think compassionate truth sets people free. nobody likes to learn that they are asshole narrow-minded bigots. truth? yes maybe. change? unlikely. hope that made sense lol, thanks for sharing.
