Very interesting explanation. The steep approach mode on the ERJ is somewhat similar to the DLC (Direct Lift Control) system on the L1011. The system would auto engage past flaps setting 33 degrees. Like on the ERJ the spoilers absolutely kill lift, and on the 1011 it allowed for beautiful precision approaches. Cheers!

Nice demonstration! I've arrived into LCY once as a passenger on an A220, I noticed they extended the final flap setting and steep approach mode right at glide slope intercept. I was impressed by the Swissair crews, very smooth and efficient flight both ways

Really like your videos and the ERJ. Bought it a couple of days ago. Flew today into LYC with some problems loosing LNAV on STAR. After trying to set up a direct in the FMS it’s telling me [incorrect direct to]

Yeah, directs are bugged at the moment. On STARs won’t work at all and everywhere else will draw a wrong route.

Nice video. It just seems like coming in that high and steep would be dangerous and very uncomfortable for the passengers, outside of an emergency. Wouldn’t it just be better to abandon this approach in the first place?

Looked to me like it was a fully stabilised approach, it really is that steep irl! (As a passenger you can't really tell)

If I’m at home at some point I probably will. Flying incredibly much this month. So far I only had 5 off days this month and chances are it’s not going to get much more.

Nice explanation, I’ve really enjoyed the embraer from FSS. Would it be possible to explain the CAT II/III approaches in this aircraft, embraer seems to have a different logic for activating such an approach, I’ve tried following the real world documentation I have found on google, but it never activates correctly in the FSS plane.

The FSS is a flying bugfest, even if you followed the right procedure I really doubt it could do an autoland yet 😅
