I prefer to use no-show mesh as my primary stabilizer for t-shirts and "float" tear-away/wash-away underneath. I, also, don't hoop the shirt with the stabilizer; I hoop the stabilizer and then use an adhesive spray to stick down my stretchy knit shirt and tell my machine to do a basting stitch around the embroidery design. Other than that, I completely agree with Ken.
@EmbroideryLibraryEL9 жыл бұрын
+TheCynedd I'm glad that you have a method that works for you, TheCynedd! I like no-show mesh also, and in an upcoming tutorial about pique we'll talk more about that. But we always recommend hooping the fabric or item with the stabilizer, as that ensures the best registration and alignment.

No-show mesh; I will have to look into that!

Hello...I ordered a Brother LB7000 machine which is due anytime now to my place. I have never sewn nor embroidered before. Thank goodness for KZbin. My question to you is where do I get the template from to print out. Is It in the machine program and if so can anyone just extract it with a flash drive to print to their printer.

Hi Kenny ! I have a Viking /Husqvarna Designer SE....and I hate to admit this but I have never attempted to do any embroidery on my own with this awesome machine. I have made a towel set for my SL but a friend who has been doing embroidery for ages was helping me every step of the way. ( and when people do that you don't really remember "WHAT" you have done...although I am VERY grateful for her expertise etc. I have some new T-shirts.....a question to you is this....should I pre-wash the shirts ? Some say yes, others say no ......What would you recommend ? Thanks for taking the time to read my post...and thanks again for your detailed Embroidery video! ( I will be looking at some more of your videos too )

Hello! We would recommend laundering your shirts first, because then any shrinking occurs before the embroidery is added. And welcome to the embroidery community! You can find more information (including step-by-step project tutorials) on our website, too. It is www.emblibrary.com.

Hi, Is it ok to use cotton fabric /shirt for embroidery?
@Shepanth9 жыл бұрын
Hello, for t-shirt embroidery, is a no show mesh just as acceptable? I am thinking about getting some, because I don't like the feel of the cutaway. Thank you for your help!
@EmbroideryLibraryEL9 жыл бұрын
+Curt Eshem Hi Curt! Yes, we use no-show mesh for things like thinner fabric, lighter colors. I've found that cutaway softens in the wash, though, so you might not like the feel at first, but laundering does soften it.

How will I get a templete the right size to use for positioning
@EmbroideryLibraryEL8 жыл бұрын
Hello, when you print it using embroidery software, it should print to size automatically. If it does not, I would contact the customer service for your software and see how to adjust your settings that way.

Only problem with cutaway stabilisers are that they can be seen from the right side of garments.
@EmbroideryLibraryEL9 жыл бұрын
+Carol Hiller Some of the stiffer kinds of stabilizer can show through transparent or thin fabrics. If you're having trouble with that, try a no-show mesh, which is softer.

what about washing tshirts? They always pucker?
@EmbroideryLibraryEL Жыл бұрын
Puckering often occurs if a design is too dense and the incorrect stabilizer was used. It can also happen if the shirt was stretched in the hoop.
@jerrysmith33518 жыл бұрын
How does the stabilizer feel against the skin, is there anything less....noticeable?
@EmbroideryLibraryEL8 жыл бұрын
Hi Jerry, the stabilizer may seem stiff at first, but after a couple of washes it softens nicely. You could also use a mesh cutaway stabilizer if you're worried about the texture.

Hi Mauro, we don't have a specific machine or brand that we like to recommend, as they are all quite different and every embroiderer has their personal preferences. I would do some research, looking into the type of embroidery you'd like to do.

@EmbroideryLibraryEL9 жыл бұрын
+Cynthia Farris Hi Cynthia! A template is a printout of a design, and designs are printed from embroidery software. If you visit the HELP page at our site, www.emblibrary.com, you'll find a section about templates: www.emblibrary.com/EL/help.aspx?page=help2whatisatemplate
