Get red drum sticks so when you get the the end of that arrangement and hold your sticks in a X they match the background and it’s more obvious what you’re going for there, and thus a better general effect

Guys I'm so happy, so I am currently a sophomore in high school, and our marching season is over, we had 4 basses, a quad (me) and two snares, but now, for our next marching season, we are gonna have 5 basses, 4 quads, and 6 snares, which is super awesome considering we are a super small high school ~1000 people, so I can't wait for our next marching season

This doesn’t correlate to the video, but I’m going to be the snare for my school’s marching drumline (we’re a small school) and I don’t really know how to play very well. I don’t really know traditional either, so do you have any tips?

Focus on the basics. Stick grip, matched/traditional. Work on the 4 strokes: Full stroke, Down stroke, Tap stroke, and the Upstroke. Practice with a metronome to work on internalizing the tempo. Work on your subdivisions of the beat, from whole notes to 32nd notes. Practice with music so that you can Have Fun, and to help you to internalize music phrasing. Practice every thing slowly, paying close attention to detail. Don't worry about speed, speed comes with time. Most importantly, Have Fun With The Whole Process!!! Never stop learning something new, and once you've achieved a goal teach what you have learned to others. Best of luck to you in your journey!!!
