The emerald ash borer has destroyed much of Iowa's ash tree population. What are Iowans doing with the wood once the trees come down?

The ash was a great hardy tree. To grow one to a height and width that is suitable for shade takes quit awhile. Shame to lose so many. I tell folks to plant a yellow poplar or possibly a linden. They are softer trees but grow fast enough to make shade in a few years instead of 30 or 40 yrs
