A really nice video. I've never driven around Emerald Bay with snow, that's nice. That Emerald Bay parking lot is always full in the summer months. I got lucky about 30 years ago and found a spot and hiked down to take the tour of Vikingholm. Then I got lucky again, because the tour guide was an elderly woman whose parents knew Mrs. Knight and were invited up every summer. She had the best stories. I wish I could remember them.

I think you may be talking about Helen Smith. I never met her, but I've read a few article that describe what you said: Her parents knew Lora Knight and she spent quite a few summers there with "Aunt Lora". She headed the efforts to preserve Vikingsholm. I think she is still alive and continues her work to preserve and maintain Vikingsholm in a reduced capacity. Here is an article you might interesting: sierrastateparks.org/blog/dr-helen-henry-smith-honored-with-golden-bear-award-for-pioneering-efforts-in-preserving-vikingsholm-castle

Thanks for watching. I went to the Ponderosa ranch a couple of times when I was little. It is sad that it has been demolished.

I loved this! Lake Tahoe is such a paradise! Was there only once, and completely fell in love with the area. I did not know about Vikingsholm, pinned it! I must visit it next time. Thanks Nix!

There are so many fun facts about Tahoe history. I only found out about Vikingsholm myself about 10 years ago. Since then I've made it a goal to learn something new everytime I visit Tahoe. Next video is going to be another fun and interesting Tahoe personality and estate!

Next week I have another really interesting video about Tahoe, very close to Incline Village. Incline is certainly one of my favorite spots up there!

I just posted my monkey Rock video. Still have a couple of more videos. One of Jeremy Renner house.

I watched the video. I've actually been wanting to hike to Monkey Rock for a few years. Your video has inspired me to get up there. Added plus is being able to peak in on the old Ponderosa / Bonanza theme park. I went there when I was little a LOOONG time ago.

unfortunately they removed the house and barn from the old set.

Yeah, I think I saw another video about that. Really sad. It was such an iconic place and I think important to the history, well the film history, of Tahoe.
