This video is all about emergence of Gender Studies. I have explained in this video that the field of Gender studies emerged in 1960s in US when the second wave of feminism was at its peak.
In 1960s and earlier to 1960s the basic rights such as right to education, reproductive rights, property rights, economic rights such as equal pay were not provided to the women.
Additionally, many women felt that the academic discipline particularly sociology has ignored the contributions, interests of women.
To study these inequalities faced by women new academic field of study " Women Studies " emerged. This "Women Studies " field became the foundation of Gender Studies.
