This Condor 3-Day Assault pack houses my bug out/get home bag. Whether you’re preparing for bad weather, a vehicle breakdown, or civil unrest, this kit has enough supplies and gear to keep me safe and comfortable for indoor/outdoor situations in 3 seasons.

You could invest in a military poncho. They are tough / rugged and large enough to be used as a shelter and to protect your ruck from rain and snow. Another item is a 1-2 liter single walled stainless steel bottle. You can boil water in it. And having a secondary water container is a must. If something were to happen to the bladder and hose (Freezing in a blizzard or bladder cracks or is punctured some how) you would need to improvise quickly to be able to carry water. (FYI Kabar does not recommend you baton with the knife because it is a rat tail tang) Also a cheap knife company is Morakniv out of Sweden. They make some very good quality fix blade knives. You need to invest in a CAT tourniquet and israeli dressing.

Put a small folding backpack inside your bag for extra carrying space, you can use it as a second backpack to collect things on the way or it can be used as an emergency backpack when your main bag somehow get breakdown, redundancy
@PewLand

This can easily be supplemented by some big contractor bags, they can be used for all kinds of things like water collection, waterproofing your main pack, scavenging, emergency rain poncho, bivvy sack, ground tarp, pack it with leaves to make a mattress to keep your body off the ground in cold climates, chest seals for puncture wounds to the lung...etc the uses are unlimited and are much lighter and easier to pack than an actual backpack. Having some contractor bags, some paracord and some duct tape can get you through a lot of situations.

I totally clicked on this video because the bag looks nearly identical to my London Bridge 1476J which I absolutely love. It’s almost an exact copy, down to the alternating molle/velcro on the back and even the layout of the admin pockets. Nice kit, this gives me some ideas how to set mine up since they’re so similar.

Enjoyed your video. I started out with a Condor 3 day assault bag and down sized to their medium pack which is a 30 liter bag, it works better for me but still like the 3 day bag. The base weight of my bag is 16.5 lbs. Ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain. Thanks again for the video.

Look into losing the tent, since it leaks anyway. Look into the emergency tent setups. Tons of different brand and some good quality. Will help with heat retention aswell. Didn't see any water carrier except the sawyer bag, a good bottle will help especially if that bag breaks. Maybe a map of your area unless you know it very well. Bag set up looks great.

To waterproof your tent, get a tube of clear silicone, mix with mineral spirits (think it's about 5 parts spirits to one part silicone) paint it on (some prefer to soak it in a bucket, I've never tried this method) leave to dry, repeat if necessary. Job done. 😁 I have an old army bivvy which works fine when combined with a poncho and multiple layers but it's usually milder weather here. Wet, but not so cold in winter or warm in summer. Btw a good item is a silk shirt, virtually zero weight/space and makes a good extra layer.

Location awareness for the type of bag you have is also important. When I lived in NYC I used an Oakley or North Face bag for mine as looks like every bag people carry on them going to school and work. It didn't say I'm carrying unique gear, knives or a gun which would draw unwanted attention. When I moved to a free state with a large joint base and military community, my bag was a molle laden Maxpedition since those were popular.

Great bag. Wise of you to have clothing, too few do. Only important adds I'd recommend would be two more days of food (you have only a day's worth there) and definitely more cordage. I'd toss a few more fuel tabs in your stove too, I'm able to store nine of them in mine with a lighter and scrubbing pad, have the same one. I've also used it with natural materials, worked fine but slower. Good for you for leaving out all the gadgety stuff.

Get a "life wtr" bottle at the grocery store. They're like a dollar most places. Get the one with the sports screw top. It will function as a back wash nozzle and you save weight and space by not having to carry the syringe that came with the sawyer squeeze.

I've had a very similar Condor bag for several years now. I absolutely hate it. All of the zipper pulls have broken. The suspension system is horrible. I only carry about 25# in it and it sags off my back instead of riding close, with the cinch straps pulled as tight as possible. The front pocket is also useless for anything other than maybe a map. Waiting for an Eberlestock V69 to arrive in the mail soon for a much needed upgrade.

I’ve made the mistake of carrying this same pack with 35 pounds for approximately 10 miles . You can load it with all sorts of gear but it is torture to carry . I tried so hard to like it to the point of strapping it to a ridged pack frame with its own shoulder straps and padded hip belt .That was the only way to comfortably carry it . It has since gone to the thrift store . Thank you for you’re comment . I thought it was just me. PS , A smart man learns from his mistakes , A wise man learns from others mistakes . 😎✌️

Overall, good for you that you even care to get started on surviving or surviving KZbin. Aside from that... Fail items: 1. Cook kit for food that requires water but no water. 2. Camelback for water but no water. 3. Tent that leaks 4. Four crappy knives but not two good ones 5. Ozark trail first aid kit 6. Food that requires cooking 7. Condor pack that’s already giving out 8. Crap multitool 9. Clothes packed in bag 10. No good emergency signaling devices (sound and sight) 11. Compass but no map when I’m guessing you know your way home Win items: 1. Headlamp 2. Escape bivvy 3. Some redundancy in fire and cutting 4. A plan of sorts 5. A desire to be prepared 6. General idea of what to have. I assume you’d have 3 liters of bottled water in your vehicle to fill your camelback, so we’ll skip that. I assume you could leave your extra clothing in a separate bag in your car to change in to before you try to get home instead of taking up room in your pack so well skip that. I assume you have better knives available and will ditch the fork and spoon kit for no eating utensils when you dump the cooked food stuff and redundant stove stuff because it’s unnecessary for 72 hrs so we’ll skip that. I assume you have a good first aid/trauma kit to replace the ozark trails boo boo kit so we’ll skip that. I assume you have a good vanquest or 511 bag that you actually use when you’re not pandering to the economy minded crowd so we’ll skip that. Essentially speaking 72 hrs without food or fire is no big deal. If you don’t need a sub zero sleeping bag then you don’t need fire or food. Get some water and snacks and get home quickly is the essence of survival. Humping will keep you warmer than eating and sleeping. Cover 40 miles a day 72 hrs = 120 miles. Light and fast is better than a scenic tour of the countryside. There’s other stuff but you get my drift. Keep up the good work. Stay open to new information. Keep recording. Good wishes.

Just a recommendation do not use Tuna packs. They are extremely inefficient at calories per weight ratio. They come in at 23 calories per ounce even a cliff bar comes in at 83 calories per oz and to be honest they are terrible as well but it's better then tuna. Just my recommendation.
