How do you connect the ENDEC model 3644 to strobe lights?

How did you get the Sage Digital Endec to hook up to the Sage EAS Remote software? I'm having a hell of a time trying to get my 3644 connected to that software.....

Hello, does anyone know where I can get the eas sage endec remote app?

Really impressive , your setups better than most Primary Entry Points!

I love what you're doing, where did you get your sage? By the way, I am also blind and I would hope that this software would work with screen readers.

christopher mattox i got my first sage endec from ebay, and my digital endec from a company named broadcast supply worldwide. About the screen reader, that is something i have never thought about when writing software. Ill check out how that works and try to make my programs work well with screen readers. Thanks for the comment!

How do you connect the ENDEC to the weather radios? I'm getting a TFT model in the mail and I'd like to know how to connect it when I get it.
@tor948 жыл бұрын
I never used my TFT with the radios. However, you might need an XLR to 3.5mm audio cable

What is the ENDEC? I've seen someone else using one. Looks interesting.
@tor948 жыл бұрын
It is a hardware device that encodes and decodes Emergency Alert System Frequency Shift Key (FSK) tones into an alert.

Great video! I just recently got the SAGE EAS ENDED 1822 (or so I think) and I have it hooked it up to receive EAS from KWO35 New York City, NY.

Wow, you sir have an awesome setup. My hat is off to you. I can't even fathom how much it must have cost. :P I have a question, if I may...I'm considering grabbing an 1822 ENDEC at some point in the future, but since SAGE will not be updating its firmware for the Part 11 changes, would it still be worth my time and money? If it's not possible to keep things even vaguely compliant I'll hold off and try to get a digital model, since I'd rather not have a paperweight if/when the new location or event codes are used...
@tor948 жыл бұрын
The 1822 ENDEC will never be compliant because it does not support the Common Alerting Protocol (Unless an additional software or hardware CAP to EAS device is purchased). Also, you can add new location and event codes to either the 1822 or Digital ENDEC. If you have the few thousand to spend and can figure out the programming, audio levels, web server, etc... the Digital ENDEC is the way to go.

I'm sure it's probably been asked before, but is it legal to own these for personal use without any need to register them to local/state/federal government so as long as you're not transmitting the EASFSK and week/month tests, and what is the advantage to owning the actual equipment over owning just a standard weather radio? I've been searching for days about the whole legal aspect only to come up short, maybe you can shed some light on any legal issues concerning the ownership of an ENDEC?
@tor948 жыл бұрын
It is not illegal, but owning one, I have to be careful. I personally make sure that I am not connected to anything that can transmit the EAS AFSK tones before I send an alert. If I bench test an alert and it gets out, I can be fined or face jail time. If I am transmitting the output of my ENDEC, I make sure I follow FCC rules with logging, and I only relay alerts received from the National Weather Service, Civil Authorities, etc. (I never originate a message while streaming the output of my ENDEC). On the topic of sending required monthly/weekly tests, I follow the FCC rules, sending the weekly test once a week, except when a required monthly test is sent that week. As to why I own an ENDEC and not just a weather radio... it is a hobby of mine. I am interested in emergency management and, as an electrical engineering student, how the ENDEC works. The only differences between owning a weather radio and an ENDEC... the ENDEC can: record alert audio, send email/push notifications, log alerts received, have multiple NOAA weather radio/broadcast radio inputs, and receive alerts from FEMA's Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS). Those are specialty features that you cant find in a weather radio. If I was not into weather, emergency management, and electronics, I would have stayed with a weather radio. I hope this answers your question.

Thanks for that fast reply and it does answer a good detail of what I was wondering about. I too tend to enjoy monitoring weather conditions and such, and have been looking at different systems for more of a personal usage only for receive info only and not transmit, though when it comes down to the whole transmit and receive, have you or can you do a video explaining just how the EAS (A)FSK are sent and received? I definitely would like to know more before actually thinking of buying a unit just to avoid any legal troubles from an accidental mishap.

When you sent the alerts did it actually activate the weather radio
@tor948 жыл бұрын
Nope, I do not transmit alerts I generate over radio.
