It might be best to build a shed above ground for the chickens & turkeys, another for goats, another for cows, etc. They can have a track to run in & not sit in the water.

I am glad you and your daughter were respectful of that water, it's so deceptively fast and deep! We have gotten lots of flooding in VT the past few years, this year in particular, and there's always some folks who get stuck in their cars or try to canoe out of their homes and get in trouble. Dad dug ditch to our main ditch through our yard after years of flooding. It has helped out a lot. Our house is higher than the neighbors: lots of dirt dug out from our side yard.

So glad you all made it through the storm. We have about 30 acres under water and the wind gusts the other night were up to 70mph. Really scary. The power went out for about 4 hours. I kept shining the flashlight out to make sure the hoop coops I put up this fall were still there. They were, but the chickens are not impressed with their waterfront property. We have another storm coming. Stay safe everyone.

If you have old planks of wood and center blocks, you could put together upper levels for all the birds to stay out of the water. This would be a good time, like a day before we get more rain to move them to higher ground. The cold wind and rain can be stress to the animals. It would be nice if you had an emergency area for most of the animals and then section them off from one another if that creates tension. I'm glad that you all were covered by our heavenly Father.

I'll never forget when Harvey hit Houston and Harris County, we had over 50 inches on the east side. Houses were totally under water that had never flooded before. 😢😢

My home flooded me and my dog and cat were evacuated by boat. I’m soooo glad I didn’t have my chickens back then…that would have been crazy. The cat couldn’t get to her litterbox and peed in my bed! I couldn’t be mad even tho it was gross.

We were supposed to get that nasty weather in Houston but we were spared this time. We were up all night watching because we have friends/family scattered between here and there. Is the knowledge of where the flooding happens changing your new yurt plans...or is it having you debating some dirt work? It is really a good opportunity to flood proof and berm.... to benefit your crops.

Here in Connecticut we had 5" of snow Sunday then we also had a heavy rain and high wind storm last night and the temperature rose to the 50's with 8" of rain. With the melted snow and that much rain it was like a pond in my front yard and streams formed that were never there before either. Glad that's over and God protected us and your family as well.

We got this storm too. I am in Maine and we got about 6 inches from this storm and very high winds lost power for 5 days. It got down to the single digits at night. Massive flooding for many towns. We came through pretty good over all. Glad to see you all are doing well

Yes, it truly is AMAZING that ALL of these "disasters" are occurring at THE SAME TIME!!! We had some bad weather hit in my area in Louisiana. I have taught my sons to sing praise songs when the weather is bad. Days of Elisha is one and The Goodness of God is also a favorite. Just knowing that we are protected by God's grace is the best feeling in the world. Give all worries to God. Praise him daily.
