I just went to the doctors and got diagnosed with and and depression. I decided to get low dosage meds for now but my doctor wants me to also do counseling which I should be doing anyways. I been putting off calling back the place to make a appt because I never say my feelings out loud and so anxious but I’m also scared to get better if that makes since

@@alannasporer5076 that makes total sense. I often get scared to get better because it’s basically uncharted territory. I won’t speak for the both of us, but all I really know is my trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD. I’ve suffered for so long it’s my normal. I don’t know what it’s like to be free of my mental illnesses so when things start to change even if it’s for the better I get really scared. You aren’t alone. Talk therapy can be a lot but if and when you find the right therapist for you it will be life changing. Some thing I’d like to mention is that you might not find the therapist that’s right for you right away. They are people to that have their own practices and their own skills. Try and find someone that has similarities to you. Whether it’s the aesthetic they give off, age, gender, race. One last thing. Don’t feel pressured to talk and put it all out on the table. You open up at your own pace. Take the time you need. I’m hoping you find everything you want and need in life. You deserve it all ❤️

The thing about being unable to understand lyrics without looking them up could be related to having ADHD! A lot of people with ADHD also have auditory processing disorder (myself included)! It makes it really difficult to understand language without being able to read lips or closed captioning, and it is especially difficult if there are lots of overlapping sounds. You'd also probably find it more difficult understanding what ppl are saying at parties/crowded places when there are lots of ppl talking at once
