Hi Herrick, I love my Bright Betties I made with your wick kit. It was fun to make. I made eight of them.Boy they really put out a lot of light. And beautiful light. But have not yet had the chance to used them yet. I have them store in the boxes the mugs cam in.That led would work for while your working on a task yeah if hung up. Wow! Bright!! Loved your expressions. I too have a small generator and a large one from 4patriot. Which I find is heavy to move around. I wish I had seen the one on wheels first. I would have gotten that instead.I may in the future. But it’s great to run the pellet stove or refrigerator and tv. The pellet stove will run for eight hours. Thanks for all the videos. Great advice. Love your humor too.😊

Temperature is also a consideration. A power outage in winter; any light source that also makes heat is an advantage. A summer outage in Texas, not so much.

Just a thought - since the Betty is also a heat source, you could JB Weld 4 or 5 nuts onto the ring to hold an enamel mug elevated for airflow, to heat water or canned food. I would make a base to fit the lamp into to reduce top heaviness. For people with all-electric homes, it will help cooking or just making a hot drink much easier.

I have a few and love them. But will want to get the paraffin lamp kit, too. I like the fact that also provide heat.

Need one more video for HEAT with Bright Betty. Maybe a 3 inch height ring of stainless screen with the overlaid red clay flower pot to catch and radiate the heat.

Hi Herrick. I love the Bright Betty. I made a few for my home and a few that I'm going to hand out for Christmas gifts. I'm all about the simplicity of the Bright Betty bam-a-lamp! Thanks for sharing the step by step instructions on how to make them, it worked like a charm! Jack

Great Timing! We had a 7 hour nightime power outage a few days ago and I realized I needed to upgrade my emergency lighting. I just bought the lantern (using your link) and am seriously looking at the Bright betty -- Thanks

Definitely interested in it's heat output. My biggest concern is frozen pipes following an extended blackout in winter.

I compared the fuel efficiency of propane/naphtha vs battery powered led a while back and it was a no brainer. The gas/liquid fuels are terrible compared to LED with lithium batteries and then there are the safety issues. You're on the right track with the solar panel and power generator. Jackery is overpriced but it works. If you have some time, you can build one yourself for much less. Another thing is that you can get warm LED's that mimic color of the Betty.

Vladimir…. It’s ONLY a no brainer if you have a way of charging it. If your power is out and you cloudy winter weather it won’t do you any good at all. Personally I would have both on hand.

UPDATED INFORMATION: We lost power shortly after I made this video and the LED lantern I show in this video lit up a whole room with the simple push of a button. The light stayed strong for nearly an hour until the power was restored. The light output is amazing. And yesterday I used the LED lamp in a cramped crawlspace where I was helping my son replace some plumbing. It REALLY lit the area up. Here's my Amazon Affiliate link: amzn.to/3NFDKci You will like this lantern! 👍

For my emergency lighting i found out that batterys arent the greatest In my experience i found that when not in use batteries tend to get left in a device they then discharge over time if enough time passes they discharge and leak damaging the light And its not always practical to run to town and buy new batteries Or a new light in some cases Open flame lights are superior as they are ready to go at a moments notice and require little to no maintenance i personally use hurricane lanterns as they were what was cheap and plentiful when i decided To invest in emergency lighting stuff Note my emergency lighting equipment works well for camping too

Even though I'm subscribed your new and recent videos do not show up on your page on yt. I don't understand it. I know about your videos because I see them in the strip to the right. Anyway, this is a great review. I had just bought a half gallon lamp oil for 20.00 Ace hardware. We have one of those old fashioned oil lamps. The Bettys are pretty neat, especially when you want easy light for another spot in the house; so easy.
