I think Nilay's suggestion that Microsoft might end up owning OpenAI hits the nail right on the head. I wouldn't necessarily call this OpenAI's "burning platform" moment, but Brockman flipping his stance like that definitely means there is a factor to this that we are currently unaware of.

Microsoft will be safe either way, with a reorganization of the board at OpenAI or with it's own team headed by Sam Altman, that being said, If I were Satya I would pray that there's no agreement and they manage to really start that team and try to shyly play my cards toward that.
