If you're on well water, and you have a smaller, less capable system, invest in a few 55 gallon plastic drums and fill them up before your natural disaster. Just make sure that they are rated "Food Grade". A smaller sized pump with lower power consumption will get you by just fine.

Can you confirm that the new update also turns the dual voltage hub back on? I think in the past that even using the labs feature to have the individual AC outlet on one DP come back on automatically, when using the dual voltage hub, you still had to manually press the button on the hub to turn it back on.

re: the dryer... (and other appliances)... Where it was feasible, we opted for gas appliances (water heater, dryer, furnace, cooktops, etc). When you've got your power loads down to just a few big ones like the AC unit(s), well pump, etc, then you can greatly increase the amount of runtime out of your battery units.

Nice video and setup. Walmart had the Ecoflow generators on sale for a grand each so I got them before the extra batteries. They will charge the Pros with the AC load still flowing. A BBQ pit bottle will charge their respective unit about 4 times. No more worries about sun or makin it throughout the night. They'll auto start and stop.

Re: Load imbalance Consider for example a 30A 120/240V split phase supply. Some of the loads connected are 240V, others are 120V. On each 120V leg the load should not exceed 30A. The problem is that as soon as 120V loads are connected, the two legs will show a different current. This is because the 120V loads on the two legs will never be balanced. A 120V 1200W hairdryer, for example, will draw 10A from one leg. A 120V washing machine could even draw in excess of 20A from one leg. Between the two legs the difference in current, or current unbalance, will therefore often be 20A or more. This means that the 30A supply will not be used up to its full potential. By the time one leg draws 30A, the other leg may be drawing no more than 10A, and increasing the 240V load, for example, will result in an overload of one leg while the other leg still has spare capacity. Theoretically, the total power that can be drawn from a 30A 120/240V supply is 30 x 240 = 7,2 kVA. In case of 20A unbalance, the practical maximum will be 30 x 120 + 10 x120 = 4,8kVA, or 67% of the theoretical maximum. The solution is an Autotransformer. By leaving the neutral of the split phase supply unused, and connecting an Autotransformer to create a new neutral, any load unbalance is ‘absorbed’ by the Autotransformer. In case of a 30A supply, the load can be increased to 7,2kVA, and a 20A load unbalance will result in one leg supplying 40A, and the other leg 20A. The 20A difference will flow through the neutral and the windings of the Autotransformer. The current through both 120V wires of the split phase supply will be 30A. As well build as these units are I'd be looking into fire brick and flame arrestors to surround them. No water can put out a battery fire nor chemicals. An old server rack or some other steel structure for holding them in place is a good idea in my eyes. Keep sand close by to smother battery fires if nothing else.

I am planning on making my system a hybrid system. Will hook up a genmax 12K generator so that the gen will charge the batteries through the ecoflow smart panel in 3 hours and then shut off plus 2K of solar. I am also going to install the ecoflow smart panel to power 10 120V circuits. The Gen will then run all my 240V circuits plus charge the ecoflow batteries at the same time. Only 240V is the AC system and dryer which I attend to replace with a gas dryer. Get a large external propane tank to run the trifuel genmax.

Andrew the NEC (NAPA 70) requires a clear working space in front of and to the sides of your panel board (load center - circuit breaker box). Nominal voltage of 150V to ground on your 120/240v panel requires 3 feet of clear space.

I just bought the Ecoflow pro last week. Tell Ecoflow that the MC4 adaptor cable wire size is too small. I'm charging off solar right now at 1.14 kW and that cable gets warm. My 10 gauge extension is fine.

I like 1200 watts because I have a freezer and other things on that outlet. It's allows me to charge quick enough and not trip my breaker when the freezer kicks on.

We use our dual voltage hub and 10.8kw of Delta Pro’s and one extra battery to heat a 50 gallon water tank at 4.5 kw’s then I set them up like you have shown without the dual voltage hub with the 30 amp RV plug adapter to the four prong male generator plug directly to our whole house generator hook up. I plug our 1200 watts of solar into the single Delta Pro then plug the charging cord for the Delta Pro w/extra smart battery from which the RV adapter is the feeding into the house electrical… this stacked usage will allow you to charge both Delta Pros off of just one bank of solar panels and still let you charge them at the same time with a gas generator. As you mentioned with the dual voltage hub in use you can’t charge the units with the gas generator. With this stacked usage method I can charge using the generator for about two to three hours topping them off in the morning and when the solar kicks in they will run the house less 240volt circuits for 10 hours while maintaining the 100 percent charge. The only down fall is that you only have 120 volts available just not dual phase. If you have to leave due to evacuation and don’t need to run 240 volt circuits while you’re gone this setup will run much longer than with the dual voltage hub method. Probably with your 14.4 kws of backup you could run 72 to 96 hours with this stacked method 👍 I hope I explain the stacked method where it makes sense 😅 we love your real world knowledge channel 👏one plus with the stacked method is you don’t have to worry about an unbalanced electrical panel 👍

Correct and you can also use their smart dual fuel generator this way. I however do need the 240v option for my well and AC. I can live without the AC, but I like having water available. I hope the next renditions of the Delta pros tackle the charging while using 240v problem. Overall these are fantastic units and showed their worth to us during the hurricane. Take care!

How do you have both Pros charging off solar if the panels are only connected to one unit? Also not seeing how you connect the Pro with solar to the house if the other Pro is the one using the RV plug.

@@jeffnhelen one pro has the solar input while I plug the charging cord from the second pro into one of the outlets on the front of the pro with the solar…I set the charger rate to about 1400 watts on the unit that doesn’t have solar and the turn on the 120 outlets on the unit with the solar. This allows a pass through voltage from the solar unit to the 120 volt charge cord on the solar less unit that way I never have to move the solar from unit to unit. Now you take the 30 amp RV cord to four prong twist lock adapter and plug it into the front of the pro that is without solar and hook it up to your generator inlet. Turn the 120 volt outlets on this unit and switch your house over to generator. The pass through feature of the pros will allow the unit with the solar to discharge first while it is being charged with solar keeping it topped off as long as you have enough solar input. This scenario works best if you are starting off with fully charged pro’s. The bonus is in the 30 amp RV plug to the four prong twist lock adapter as it will feed both sides of your electrical panel but it is not true 240 volts just 120 volts so you will need to turn off your double pole breakers in my case I only have to turn off the hot water heater.

P.s. when the unit with the solar eventually runs out the ups feature kicks in and the unit without solar becomes the primary power supply. Once solar is restored to the first pro then the units wake up and start to charge again.

Andrew, you actually can. With what’s called an autoformer. Victron makes an autoformer for about $600. Essentially you feed IT 240. Isolates and creates the phases and a new neutral. This THEN perfectly balanced the legs

We keep them charged and then use them as needed when the grid goes down. No point in leaving them plugged in while you have grid power. I'd then connect both together and power my main panel in the grid down scenario, you can then run your pump or any just about anything else. The only time you need to separate them is when you charge them via AC charging.

From my solar array I charge them eash seperately so they both charge. You cannot charge both from AC power while they are outputting 240v and connected to the dual voltage hub. You must disconnect the hub on AC charging, but is does not matter with DC charging.

I was surprised at how fast those batteries went from 92% to 81%. It's hard to tell how long they have been discharging the electricity from a video, but just watching it during the video, it was dropping fast. You said electricity had been out in your area for 2 weeks. How would 24 hours of battery help much? I assume they would be recharging on solar if the grid was down. Hopefully, it won't be rainy days if dependent on the sun for the solar. I'm sure they are needed and valuable for your area.

Yes solar to recharge or recharge when my big generator is running. I was pleasantly surprised how long I ran a home on batteries, including an AC. If I wanted to run just the basics, I could push these to 36-48 hours. That seems crazy to me when you think about it being 4 batteries.

These are really neat. But when you beak down doing an apple to apple against a standby whole house generator, in my opinion the whole house standby is easier all around. With this there’s a need for solar panels for any use longer than a day. Then costs start to rise comparable to a standby system. Then you need space for panels. Panels may get damaged in a storm. There’s pros and cons to everything. I would love to get this and have a few dislocated circuits to just this system, mainly just my freezers

there are levels to this system that, IMO, are superior to a whole home generator…i have an Ecoflow Smart Home Panel with 2 Delta Pros connected and 2 batteries per Delta Pro…the Smart Panel can charge the Pros up to 3400 watts each, power the circuits from the Delta Pros, the grid, and turn them on/off through the app…when switching from battery to grid, you won’t even notice it

If you are planning for an extended outage solar is the best option. I have a 2400 watt array and just purchased another 4,000 watts of panels. I've lived through too many disasters where gas isn't available. That's why I have solar and a 500 gallon propane tank.

That’s the only way you will learn what you really need in a grid down situation. When I get a outage, I call them training drills. What I found out is “ The nail that sticks out gets hammered “ you need to have a plan A, B & C to charge those units as quite possible. I have solar, if it’s over cast for a few days. I have small portable generators that uses 1 gallon of gas and they will charge the batteries in about 6 hours. BUT I have them in a quiet box. You can’t hear them running, but they are getting enough air. Plan C if my whole house generator. I’m working on getting a zombie box for it. How our world is at now, you never know when SHTF will start and you don’t want anyone to know you have power. Stay Ready 👍

My neighbors house got hit with lightning and it fried all his connected electronics. I did not even know this was possible. He had a whole house circuit breaker installed. With these very expensive batteries that is something people need to look into.

You don't leave these plugged in unless your running off grid. I've lost a lot over the years due to lightning, it's quite common in Florida.

Circuit breakers are NOT surge protectors. Circuit breakers will not protect you from power surges. Surge protectors are cheap, and expensive devices should already be on surge protectors. In addition, companies like Empshield sell whole house surge protectors to protect the entire house from lighting. Things like central AC and furnaces can't simply be plugged into a surge protector, and whole house surge protectors make even more sense when you start adding expensive battery packs.

My dual voltage hub randomly shuts down. Its not from over voltage or over temp on the Pros. Sometimes, it shuts down while pulling less than 600 watts total from both units. I can't leave it running while I'm away, from fearing it will shut down. I can only utilize it at night and on weekends. I purchased another dual voltage hub, and it will do the same thing. Still love the Pros with 2 extra batteries, just lost faith in 24/7, unattended run time.

Make for sure you don't have a major load kicking on your unaware of. Mine did this a couple of times until I was standing there and caught it in the act. My large pool pump was kicking on while running my AC and other loads. It has a huge surge and was tripping a single unit for a split second. The dual voltage hub was kicking out as well. The Delta pro would reset and the code disappeared, although the dual voltage hub was still powered off. Had I not seen it I would have never known it was an overpower situation. I no longer run my pool pump when I have any other big loads going it has never kicked out again since figuring that out.

@TKCL I actually don't have any 240 running, only 6 legs of 115 into a 6 breaker manual transfer switch. All loads are equalized between the 2 Pros. I guess it's possible that if the 2 freezers (tied to one Pros circuit) cycled at the same time, it could go over 3600 watts. But lately, it's been happening daily. Thanks

My pool pump is 120v, but it has a crazy surge. It's highly unlikely you are getting two freezers surging at the same time. Have you updated to the newest firmware for the units? No red codes are ever seen at the bottom right of your display?

Also what transfer switch? I have heard of some models requiring you to disconnect or connect a wire on the inside for a non bonded generator. You still have the manual for it? This might be your problem with the units sensing something. Electronics do crazy things.

Is there any reason to not leave the delta pro extra batteries hooked up? We have 2 pros and 4 extra batteries with the dual voltage hub and smart panel with 3200w of hard panels and 6 400w folding panels for off grid camping.

At a 750w pull you'll realistically only get 4 hours of runtime out of a single unit. Theres conversion losses to account for in the unit. You'll want an extra battery due to the sump pumps needs.

Please clarify. So when my delta pros and 4 extra batteries are hooked to the voltage doubler and then the smart panel I can’t charge them with the duel fuel Ecoflow generator or from grid AC? If I don’t use the doubler and connect each pro to the smart panel with its own infinity cable then I can charge them either separately or both at the same time from grid AC, the Ecoflow generators or another inverter generator? We are just down the coast from you all in Alabama.

Correct, that dual voltage hub causes both units to share neutral. You can't AC charge the units in this setup, you can DC charge them via solar. If you remove the dual voltage hub you can charge both at the same time because they are no longer connected to each other.

Does your gas generator have enough output to recharge the batteries and run some portion of the house? Yes it's a 9kw generator. You cannot recharge two units connected together with AC. You can recharge two units in 240v mode with DC, such as solar panels. If you have a single Delta pro and or batteries you can recharge them via AC or DC while they are outputting.

These are quality round ev cells and rated for 10 years and thousands of charges. 100 percent is no problem, the 80 percent is depth of discharge. Most companies recommend to not discharge past 20 percent to extend the life cycles of the batteries.

I've been hearing a lot of reports from viewers in our state of companies dropping them. Most state it's because of net metering systems where you sell back to the grid and are grid tied, some state its because of panels on the roof. A lot say their insurance companies never gave them a specific reason other than it was the solar system.

If your 2 Ton AC pulls 1800 Watts an hour and you run it for 30 min, that would be ONLY 900 Watts. That would make ONLY 450 watts per Generator.

I miss a monitoring system with history and the possibility to connect, monitoring with history and setting the unit from anywhere with internet - this should be the common standard nowadays for all Power stations, something like Solar Assistant or VRM portal, and I would like the possibility of monitoring for online and offline mode, where in offline mode the data would be stored in internal memory and in the next online mode the offline data with usage would be automatically transferred to the monitoring system itself. Hopefully some Portable Solar Station will have this functionality someday. Or at least have the possibility to connect to a Solar Assistant like the All-In-One inverters have. I would like to be able to connect this Portable Solar Station to the popular Home Assistant where it could be used for automation and monitoring with history from anywhere I can connect to the internet. In Home Assistant there is a ready-made solar monitoring environment where all it needs is data from any solar system to be delivered to it. This and similar features should be the natural standard for all Portable Solar Stations and systems nowadays, even for small, medium and large ones.

Makes me think how to recharge if no DC source... maybe be conscious of that and disconnect from house so you can charge from 120V? I'm still in the infancy of solar and these type battery systems. I just got a quote for solar and net metering with Duke, came in at $35,900 (no batteries). Which, theoretically, will give me a zero electric bill (I'd still get Duke's $30 meter fee). You would need to disconnect the dual voltage hub. If running a single unit, you can recharge by any means. The ultimate goal would be to recharge via solar, which you can do while two are in operation.

In this video, BOTH Delta Pro's are being charged via DC through the Switched-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) at 1,200 watts to EACH DP via Yamaha EF6300iSDE. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYeooqmCnq2raNk Edit: I now use the Ideal Pulsing SMPS. The 2,000 watt Ideal Pulsing SMPS outputs the full 1,600 watts that a DP can pull in to each DP. To my knowledge, this is the only way other than using TWO EcoFlow Smart Generators or using solar panels for the DP's to have their batteries charged WHILE connected to Double Voltage Hub which is supplying 240 volts to my transfer switch which in turn is supplying power to my house panel which is powering my whole house. I needed the DVH and the 240 volts it produces for my well pump. For example, if the DVH is only drawing 1,000 watts total for my whole house, the DP's are still getting 1,200 watts EACH of input. If I were to connect my DP's directly to AC outputs on my Yamaha EF6300iSDE, the DP's AC outputs and Infinity cable outputs to the DVH are disabled while being charged from AC power source. @@TKCL With respect to AC charging when a user is NOT using a Double Voltage Hub (DVH), it is important keep in mind that each DP’s output capacity will be limited to a max of 1,800 watts instead of the typical 3,600 watts as the DP goes in "pass through mode" when AC is plugged in to a wall outlet or generator outlet. This means if your house was using 1,000 to power loads in your house, only 800 watts would be going towards the DP’s battery and EB (if you had a EB connected). The charge rate is dynamically reduced to stay under 1,800W. So if you have it set to 800W with 1,100W of loads the charge rate will be reduced to 700W to stay under 1,800W. If the loads for the house exceed 1,800 the DP will trip.
