He has multiple issues here. He stated the complaint is" dryer Too hot" and proceeded to adjust the gas. The regulator is set at 3.5 inches of wc ( if natural gas) first clean the tubes and make sure your thermistor isn't burried in lint. The "auto" feature on this older unit doesn't run off temp or moisture in the linen, it reads the ignition module and the amount of times it calls for heat. So if the thermistor and thermistor harness check out then I would start to look at my control which is rare to replace. And replace that worn lead.

Fail! Your burner tubes are dirty and you need to clean the ignitor and or replace the ignition lead.
