So glad Sherpa’s vision isn’t impacted. Hopefully his eye nerve will get back to work very soon. He was pretty perky when he was telling you about the vet visit. Thank you for keeping us updated. Sherpa’s our sweetie.

My dog is a senior now and he got horners syndrome. It honestly scared me and when I took him to the vet they said the same thing, that it will go away on it's own. It's been about 5 months and it has gotten better but his bottom eyelid is still a little droopy. But, it doesn't bother him, we're just extra careful he doesn't go in the dirt 😊
@Katie-mz9ic Жыл бұрын
Hi Jamie and Sherpa. I've worked in the veterinary field for 10 years, and I've seen many cases of Horners. It's non-painful and is more commonly seen in older dogs. It can come on suddenly, and in many cases, it can resolve on its own; but for some dogs, it may not. When this happens, it means the "sympathetic innervation" to the eye has been affected, and we don't ever really have an answer as to why or what has affected it. Further testing such as lab work, xrays of the head and neck, or an MRI may give answers, or they may not. Whether it resolves or not in Sherpa's case, know that he is not in any discomfort, and he will always be a handsome Lord. ❤

Thanks for the frank information from the vet side. Sometimes vets forget we are owners, not vet techs but we are very capable of understanding a complete explanation!!! Helps us not fret so much!💕🐶
@Katie-mz9ic Жыл бұрын
@cherylpup8395 I always like to explain or reassure people. Having anything happen to your pet can be scary or stressful, and understanding the situation better always helps bring some reassurance. Being in the field, I have access to information other than Google, and I'm always happy to help explain any daignosis further if I can.

That is wonderful. The world works better when people stop & help instead of rush and shun concerns

Our husky girl lived to be almost 14. A few years before she died, her face started looking old and her muscle mass changed and her light seemed to dim as well as her fur began to change. I can see his face has changed and his personality seems to be dimming. It’s sad but all we can do is love them and be there for them in their time of need. Our girls been gone for 2 years now but it still hurts like she just left us yesterday.

It's quite difficult watching our beloved pets hit those golden years. Sending all my love and prayers for Sherpa. I'm glad to hear that it was not Mini Cooper related or stroke related ! That is fantastic news! Equally good to hear that it's not neurological. The Beatles said it best, what a drag it is getting old. But, if something had to go wonky with his eye, I would say this was the best case scenario. He is the luckiest dog in the world. You have given him the finest retirement home that any dog could ever ask for! You've given him the best life any dog could ever ask for. You boys were made for each other. It truly is wonderful to watch good pet owners do what good pet owners do! Thank you for sharing Sherpa and your life with us

This is the first time I've been really aware of Sherpa's age, he always seems so vibrant & cheeky. It really hurt my heart to see the difficulty he had with his steps. I hope that you have far more time with him, running, laughing, loving & "harooo-ing" Love from me & my sadly declining constant companion, Boz. 🐾♥️🐾

We took our 14 year old meower to the vet for a hard lump on his side. He had to have surgery the next day the mass was the size of a flat can, it was inflammation in fat cells from trauma. Thank you for being proactive about it and getting him seen by a vet. You're a wonderful fur dad. Hopefully he can start whatever road to recovery soon senior pets are the best cuddlers.

I'm so relieved Sherpa's okay. I saw the title of the video and went into panic mode. It's so sweet how Sherpie is hesitant to eat out of the new bowl, thinking it's someone else's food. Most dogs wouldn't care whose it was; if it was within their reach, they would dig right in. Lol. 🥰🐶
