Matt, he is 72 years old. Those 15-hour days wear you down. NIL, the portal, and everything else has changed football for better or worse. It isn't getting any easier. And what does he have left to prove? As a Tennessee fan, I have nothing but respect for Coach Saban. Never be another one like him. But I figured him buying the home in Jupiter Fla was a damned good clue he was close to hanging up his spurs. Like all of us, he has a family, and I'm sure he would like to spend some time with them. I promise that when you get older, you will understand fully. Bama has had a list of hires to replace him for a while. Stop fretting. Congrats to coach Saban and enjoy every minute of your retirement, sir.

He's old, he's tired, and he's probably struggling with the direction college football has been going over the past few years. There's way more to living than just continuing to perfect your occupational tasks.... family (especially the grandkids), friends, bass fishing, etc... maybe he wants a bigger slice of those treasures before he gets too old to enjoy. In any case, I salute the man for all of his accomplishments in the college football world.

We lost Coach Bryant and now we've lost Coach Saban. I hoped we would not have to go through this again in my life time. One hurts as bad as the other. God bless them both. Roll Tide!

Yeah, I remember when Bear Bryant retired. That was really tough, and this is equally as tough and you're correct, there aren't any other Nick Saban's out there. So, who knows what will happen now. sucks 😞

Ohio state fan hear. I remember my old roommate Alabama fan was so excited when he came to the team. He showed me the sec and yes they our the toughest div. Alabama program has been the standard for college football for the last 20 years. He was better then the bear. I hope everything works out for Alabama and Goodluck in the future.
